Well I don’t scoop the dry signal of the guitar there’s plenty of midrange in that. I put the reverb and other guitar effects on a separate bus and scoop the midrange out of THAT. So that way you have the body of the guitar sounding thick and snarly like you and I tend to enjoy, but then the reverb neatly tucks itself into the background because it’s only applied to thinner frequency ranges

I would also say there’s a huge difference between a heavy scoop and a slight scoop. My Orange amp is too thick and muddy naturally and needs the midrange backed off a tad to sound crisp in there. Do I scoop it drastically like a mushy smashed up metal guitar tone, no, I hate that kinda tone, but a SLIGHT cut on my EQ pedal works wonders for the Orange’s midrange actually sounding good and balanced

I don’t think you need 10 reverb pedals I just think it’s nice to pair the right reverb to each guitar. The Hydra is epic for a Tele. A Strymon imo is better for a guitar with humbuckers. Etc

Times like this are the only times I feel somewhat neurodivergent ranting about fucking guitar pedals lol but I would also rather apply different styles of reverb and different parameters for different guitars - the rickenbacker is a lot brighter and gnarly than the tele so I have more of a high cut on that reverb - and while I’m sure that would be possible if I had like 10 different reverb pedals or spent $600 or whatever on some Strymon bullshit (I refuse to support that company lol), it’s much easier, cheaper and efficient to just use a plugin after and record dry and have different setups for each guitar
