a lot of great stuff on this list but added you for Encounters of the Spooky Kind, that movie is a blast
I love that film so much. That final freeze frame is such a brilliantly absurd way for a film to end. Plus, it essentially was a proof of concept for all the mid 80s Hong Kong Jiangshi films.
I could absolutely never do this, but it's very interesting seeing other people's lists. Some are pretty close to the "most popular/cinematic greats" and some are pretty out there compared to what I've seen
I’m nothing close to a cinephile, and never will be, but these are the ones that come to mind, not really in order at all after the first: 1. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King* 2. Moulin Rouge! 3. Mean Girls 4. Warrior 5. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 6. Arrival 7. Step Up: Revolution 8. The Matrix 9. Pacific Rim 10. Wall-E 11. Coco 12. Shrek 2 13. Hero 14. Jurassic Park: The Lost World 15. Mad Max: Fury Road 16. Independence Day 17. Before Sunset* 18. How to Train Your Dragon* 19. Cabin in the Woods 20. Men in Black *entire trilogy, really Didn’t really know how to include like Alien, Mission Impossible, and John Wick as franchises, but they’re almost entirely 10/10s for me. There are a myriad of movies I love and are probably perfect and better than most of these, but these are the ones for me that mix the joy of story, comfort, and entertainment. The ones I come back to.
I didn’t expect to be big on Koyaanisquatsi, but man that movie is hypnotic. The music is just unbelievable
Ha! If there’s any of them that look interesting, and you have any difficulty finding them to watch, please feel free to message me. I’m happy to upload anything onto Google Drive or whatever.
