Probably Siamese Dream. Butch Vig's vocal production is key for me.

Siamese Dream for me and it isn't remotely close.

Yeah if we are being super picky here - Teargarden was kind of an abandoned project after the EPs rather than a proper album... I think some people consider Oceania and Monuments to an Elegy "tacked on" to "complete the project".

I legitimately love every single album they’ve put out, post breakup and reunion stuff included. But Mellon Collie will forever be single album that changed my life

    If we’re gonna rank:

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
    Adore
Machina - The Machines of God
    Siamese Dream
    Machina II
    Oceania
    Gish
    Cyr
    Monuments to an Elegy
Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1
    Zeitgeist

Still getting acquainted with Cyr so it’s very possible it’ll move at some point

Cool and interesting take from someone who was 7 years old when they first broke up.

    Cheers!

Yeah I discovered them in I think ‘09 when I was in high school, which is obviously after Zeitgeist came out and right around when Teargarden was starting. So to me it was all part of the Pumpkins “canon” if you will, whereas I think for a lot of older fans there’s more of a separation between the original run and the post-reunion stuff.

Mellon Collie gets the edge over Siamese Dream for me. Like Billy says in the SD reissue liners, “one is the ideal of the band, and the other is the reality of the band.”

plus MCIS has way more amazing songs, and for me more exciting production.

Great point about the older fans for sure. I will say - it irks me that Billy has the entire 00s discography (besides Machina 1) pulled from streaming. I lost my iPod classic a few years back and I was pretty thorough with my collection of everything SP-world related.

Couldn't tell ya how many times I've wanted to listen to the Zwan record, specifically. And even Zeitgeist, I feel like I can't give it that proper "re-evaluation" to see if I enjoy it any more than I did in 2007-2008.

I wanna say Adore but "1979" is a song that will always hit me hard so Mellon Collie is probably it.. but that record does have some filler tracks for sure.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
    Adore
Machina II - The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music
Machina - The Machines of God
    Zeitgeist (yeahhhh buddy)
    Siamese Dream
    Oceania
Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1
    Cyr
    Monuments to an Elegy
    Gish

Dude I relate so hard right now about the iPod thing. I just switched computers and transferred all my music files, and when I go to sync my iPod it eventually crashes and loses everything. So I’m super bummed about that especially given the fact that, like you said, so much of their stuff isn’t on streaming. And here I thought I was the only one left who still uses an iPod classic haha

I actually had two... a full 120GB and a nearly full 160GB. Would update it weekly with new albums from back in the What.CD days up until about 2016ish. Then I stupidly left them both in my car while I was at work early 2017, and they were stolen right from my car along with a backpack and bunch of clothing. :verysad:

So hard to pick my favorite. At different points in my life I've alternated that crown between Mellon Collie, Machina, Adore and Siamese Dream. But I went with Mellon Collie today.
    Ok time to rank:

    Mellon Collie
    Machina
    Siamese Dream
    Adore
    Oceania
    Gish
    Zietgeist
    Cyr
    Shiny
    Monuments

I think those last 3 are interchangeable just like the top 4

    little old lady Prestigious

Zeitgeist for my favourite, though I’ll freely admit any of their pre-breakup albums are objectively better (my vote for best would go to MCIS)

SP was my favourite band all throughout my teenage years. Zeitgeist dropped during that time, and I played the hell out of it, so I associate loads of memories with it & still have a great fondness for those songs

Also Zeitgeist gave us “Stellar”, a higher-tier Pumpkins tune that absolutely should’ve made the main album rather than be an iTunes bonus track
