I think I can agree with the general sentiment you're saying, but it also depends on a couple of outside factors that weren't brought up. When someone usually wants a "first" anime I'd ask what genre they're usually into, what they like watching live action shows of. Because just like live action, anime ranges from different genres and getting to know what they're looking for is good to know. Maybe they DO want a good mindfuck and want to experience something that's more than just nonstop action. Do they want more drama? More mystery? Political intrigue? Themes having to do with the supernatural? Themes dealing with psychology and/or philosophy? I do think there's a difference between the big 3 and AoT/JJK/HxH and that's as WE got older, shows started going from straight shonen to almost seinen and as we aged alongside anime, our predisposition to mature themes has become more common so I honestly wouldn't even consider AoT the deep end, because I would lump it in the same group as JJK/HxH (it's just my personal favorite of the three). Suggesting Madoka to someone looking for a first anime is downright wrong lol and it's like someone asking for a first anime style videogame and people suggesting Doki Doki Literature Club LOL.
dammit you're making me look bad it's too far I actually started this years ago when it was still ongoing and never finished it after watching the first two seasons never heard of it
NTE update: I still haven't been to the new area because to unlock it means starting Episode 5, and I haven't started Episode 4 yet. Still been side questing, and I actually have nearly all the collectibles save the new area, so it's nice to knock that out. I think I've finally become better at the combat system. I'm learning to dodge more and try to time my hits instead of straight wailing. Just crushed four Level 4 anomaly commissions in a row, so I'm feeling pretty good.
ngl I was very happy that Wuwa just lets you skip straight to 3.4, I wasn't gonna do all that last night.
i don't watch a lot of newer anime series nowadays so i'm a bit out of the loop but, as i said, Frieren is genuinely good. like a slice of life anime set in a fantasy world full of monsters and adventurers. sure, there's some flashy fights here and there, but that's not the main draw for me. the series is truly character driven, and the story makes me emotional quite often. here Anime • forum.chorus.fm that might be for the best, actually. the last few seasons are pretty divisive, iirc a lot of ppl who were fans of the earlier seasons seem to hate the direction the plot was taken and how the finale ended things liar
fwiw Frieren (the Chorus.fm user) has an avatar of Serie, a character who's kind of an asshole to Frieren (the anime character). i'm not saying i think Frieren (the user) is an asshole, but choosing an avatar of that character over one of the main/titular character is... a choice.
Like idk I’m not in love with that persons takes either but let’s not bully them. If you mind the way they post just ignore and move on with your life.
My intention wasn't to bully them, I don't care one way or another about their take or whatever. I'm just saying I thought their choice of avatar was weird from the beginning, if only because it doesn't match the character they made their username after
I didn't mean to single you out, I feel like a lot of us expressed their disdain for that poster and it started feeling like a pile on.
I think I'm going to play Sanabi next. Really into unique art styles, gameplay and narratives at the moment, and preferably indie and highly acclaimed / under appreciated. Entering my hipster era if you will.... By those standards I also snagged 1000X Resist and Undertale on sale. (I know Undertale is old and well known but still not a traditional game by any stretch). Also have Citizen Sleeper 2 to get into. Really loved the first one and found it oddly both depressing and cozy.
