Can I play Witcher 3 without playing the previous 2? Interested in the new one but I don't really wanna play the old ones.

The engine just is not acceptable in 2016, it's shameful.

Cool thanks. The more action-centered, opene world aspect of the new one appeal to me more than the first two and they appeal to have aged as well. I'll watch those and get the new one!

Visually, the engine is not an issue. The bugs yes. No reason for them to move to Unity for example particularly when their business plan is to release on every platform possible at once.

That's what I did and didn't feel like I had a problem. I just read the wiki pages for the first two games. There's so many nods to the books too that I wasn't going to pick up so there's no point in feeling like you need to know the backstory of every single thing they're referencing.

honest to god this soundtrack is some of the best piece of written music I've heard in a long time. Red Parallax is a good starting point!

  13. Downloaded the Elder Scrolls Legends beta. Double the classes per deck, double the lanes on the field, double the fun!

Definitely. I played some of the first (but I feel the gameplay has not aged too well) and never grabbed the second, but I think the third stands on its own really well. From my understanding you'll definitely miss some solid backstory and may not have the same understanding or connection to the characters, but it's definitely more than playable and well worth it.

Got it, that covers everything I was worried about!

But like someone else said - the lore of games apparently also relate closely to the books which I definitely do not have the time or interest to read, ha. So there is no scenario where I am completely caught up anyway.

TellTale has been coasting for a while and should be put to task for the abysmal performance of their games.

    There is NO excuse.

critiquing their buggy engine yes. But from a gameplay and writing standpoint I don't think Batman or Game of Thrones are worse than TWD or Wolf Among Us.

I've played TWD S1, S2 and Michonne, TWAU, and TFTB. I will get Batman once the physical version is out next month.

Engine has more issues than just bugs too, framerate drops, tearing, just generally shit performance all around. Apparently the PC port of the batman game is really, really bad.

Big batman fan, but I don't think I'll pick it up, may watch a playthrough.

I still hold TWAU in high regard, but I can take or leave the rest of the telltale series.

I think TWAU is the best, closely followed by TFTB.

I played all the TellTale Games on either 360 or the One and noticed that the frame rate drops happened on both. TWD S2 was the worst, I had to restart the game or my 360 several times and I have never had that issue with any other game I've played.

I've played a bit of the series on every platform (Xbox 360/PS3/PS4/Xbone/PC) and it's always an utter mess on each, unacceptable for me.

They should have more than enough funding to actually take a critical look at their engine and overhaul it, no other developer gets away with such consistent poor performance. Playing Life is Strange was enough to convince me to never touch a TT game again until they actually fix things.
