I'm in the minority that thinks LITSOS is better than DTGL. But they've got three full lengths that I'll always return to as excellent albums. I've never got into Disambiguation sadly. Would love an album in the style of 'Returning Empty Handed' from DTGL with longer instrumental sections / build ups and a bit of a post-rock vibe. But that's just me. I'll obviously and happily take any new material they might put out as part of their current reunion time.
All about the dual vocals (with Gillespie's return) for me. I want to hear both. Back and forth. Doing what they do best.
In terms of how much I listen to them in full: DTGL > LITSOS >> TOCS > DA. but I love DA and don't wanna see it last.
At least once a month I hit an Underoath kick and literally have to listen to their full discography. Love this band so much. Recently listened to the Tooth & Nail Labeled podcast on the Underoath leaving 2006 Warped which started this months kick of UO listening. Really hoping the rumors of september studio time are true. I think they've solidified this comeback stage. Now it's time to make a killer comeback album. I want them to take all the time they need for creating it. I'd hate a rushed album.
I've not listened to this episode yet, but the entire podcast has been great and all the episodes worth checking out.
no real big "holy crap" moments, it's cool to get the full story on this whole situation, though. also, Matt Carter's solo podcast Break It Down has the full interview with Aaron which is pretty good, too.
No complete shockers, but it's great hearing everyone's take on the situation and the whole podcast itself is put together very well.
UO sounded terrific at self help fest and all looked to be having a blast. Standard festival set list. Also spencer closed with saying they'll be back next year. It's time for new music this is getting absurd.
Yes, it would be a big surprise to do more shows / another tour without putting out new music. I think they'll release something with no build up. No idea when though!
They just have to ride this adrenaline rush and put it towards new material. For all we know they could've been writing most of this year. Aaron no longer drumming for Paramore allows for more Underoath focus. Would love a secret "Brand New-esque" release that comes out of nowhere. Kinda like the hype they did when they announced their comeback/rebirth. EDIT: I think I'd be more excited for new music from these guys than any other active band right now. Which is saying a lot.
I'm sure they have new music coming. They must know they can only ride the reunion wave so long before it fades.
If I recall they'd spoken about that in an interview before, not wanting to just ride their old stuff into irrelevancy. It looks like they're still drawing big crowds so I doubt they're at that point yet but I agree, time to capitalize now. Whatever time commitments led to the breakup seem to have poofed and disappeared.
considering one of the reasons Tim gave for the breakup was not wanting to play the same few songs over and over at festivals, i'd expect they wouldn't have kept going with the reunion if there weren't new tunes in the works.
Just listened to this today. The story from the band is definitely different than the way it was portrayed in the media.
