That's one of the reasons I like the brackets. Helps me re-visit records I haven't in a while for various bands
1. This is How the Wind Shifts 2. Shipwreck in the Sand 3. Dead Reflection 4. I Am Alive in Everything I Touch 5. Discovering the Waterfront 6. Rescue 7. Arrivals and Departures 8. Short Songs 9. When Broken is Easily Fixed
Hey guys I'm gonna get this up and running within the next couple days now that the LP one is done (spoiler: Faint won it all). Shall we move back through the discog as has been tradition? Any other considerations? it's gonna pain me to not be able to vote so y'all better choose wisely.
I didn't anticipate 18 candles. As for SS, do we do every song or just the originals? My gut says originals only.
basically we go album by album and vote on randomly-generated song matchups in a bracket-style tourney. definitely hit all the LP's, as for b-sides we can decide if they're added onto their respective album's bracket (as was done for LP) or we compile them all into one. can also make some of these decisions as we go. fortunately we don't have any extraneous stuff for DR.
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Chorus's next iteration of the discography bracket challenges. It's been over 14 years since this scene staple's debut and I think I speak for everyone when I say it's been a joy to follow this prolific band along thus far and we should have plenty to talk about. With that, be mindful, be thoughtful, be respectful, and welcome to the... THIS IS HOW YOUR PERCEPTION OF OTHER USERS SHIFTS: THE SILVERSTEIN BRACKET CHALLENGE For the uninitiated, these are randomly generated brackets (no seeding!) to determine a winner for each album, which will then face off in a Champions bracket to decide the best overall Silverstein song! Same rules as the other brackets: Rules: 1. Voting will take place over 10-24 hour period, depending on how close the matches are (if there's a wide margin too far to beat the round may be run ruled to not waste time). 2. You must vote on every match in a round. If you don't your other votes don't count. Jut reply to this thread with your choices. I will not vote unless there is a tie needed to be broken. 3. Feel free to discuss why you chose one song over the other and why you like that song. It's what helps keeps these fun! 4. I avoid byes into rounds if I can, but sometimes it's necessary. These are randomly generated; I do not pick them. 5. Once your votes are counted, signified by me 'liking' your post, there are no vote changes. Choose wisely before posting! A word from the wise: People change in the brackets. Oh find the best song if you can. But be very wary, you might just lose yourself along the way. SILVERSTEIN FACE OFF: DEAD REFLECTION ----- Round 1 1) Aquamarine Vs. Lost Positives 2) Wake Up Vs. Ghost 3) Secret's Safe Vs. Retrograde 4) Last Looks Vs. Demons Round 2 Winner of 1 Vs Cut and Run Winner of 2 Vs Whiplash Winner of 3 Vs Mirror Box Winner of 4 Vs The Afterglow May the Round 1 voting begin!
Aquamarine Wake Up Retrograde Demons Fairly easy except for number 3, cause those are some of the best songs off the album.
Aquamarine Ghost Retrograde Demons Also, I'm sad I missed the album rank discussion, so this is mine. Shipwreck > I Am Alive > Waterfront > Wind Shifts > Dead Reflection > Rescue > Broken > A&D
Lost Positives (gonna say this is their best catchy song, but still w/ an edge, since Smile In Your Sleep and My Heroine) Ghost (love Wake Up though, this could definitely change over time) Retrograde (a straight ripper) Last Looks (another straight ripper)
I actually haven't listened to this whole album yet, but let me give it a listen and I'll get my votes in ASAP
