His voice is sounding a little different these days. A little more professional? Enunciating better maybe? I like this, I need to give his previous album a shot again, I think I only listened to it once.
Tyler Childers has announced a new album, Rustin’ In The Rain, due September 8 via Hickman Holler Records/RCA Records (pre-order). “This is a collection of songs I playfully pieced together as if I was pitching a group of songs to Elvis,” Tyler says. “Some covers, one co-write, and some I even wrote in my best (terrible) Elvis impersonation, as I worked around the farm and kicked around the house. I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thank you. Thank you very much.” The first single is the ballad “In Your Love,” which comes with a music video that was written and creative directed by Silas House, the first openly gay Kentucky Poet Laureate, and it tells a love story between two men in 1950s rural Appalachia. Silas says:
Been getting into Tyler a lot recently, this is music I wish I got into sooner. This man makes amazing music that melts my country ass heart.
Not related to this record, but I just watched a video of Tyler Childers performing "Long Violent History" for the very first time in LA last night and that is a moment that really reached through the screen for me. What a beautiful, poignant, tragic, and historical moment.
