I mean they loved putting out those “fish out of water” performances. Crue was still playing to huge crowds, I was excited to finally see them there, but yea it was nuts you had a band filling summer sheds, playing to like 2k people.
I remember after this set I watched icp. Then after that me and my friends found a random TGIFRIDAYS where they were playing that they got Bin Laden. What a crazy day.
Support for the Hellogoodbye/Early November tour announced: east coast gets Punchline and west coast gets The Dangerous Summer acoustic.
Not the same as selling selling the band because it was New Jersey but they also had the year Brand New was subbing for Bon Jovi which also led to some hilarious crowd combos and interactions
The Bon Jovi day, from what I recall, shit the bed ticket sales-wise. Apparently Katy Perry was in play to headline but they opted for Bon Jovi.
Haha...don't recall but could very well be true....would've been a fun mix to see those Katy Perry fans mix in there too though
They really banked on that “Bon Jovi” fans plus “bamboozle” fans paid him above his normal guarantee to get him to play. Disaster and killed the fest essentially forever
From what I remember the original plan was for the final day to be a Katy Perry + Nicki Minaj co-headliner. But Live Nation strongly opposed it and were instead pushing for Bon Jovi. They got their way and when the day sold poorly that's kinda what led to the end of the Live Nation and Bamboozle relationship.
Seeing the lineup it wasnt bad. Younger me in 2012 would be stoked for Bon Jovi, BN and Gaslight Anthem. Also it was the same year MCR played their last show before their hiatus.
Crazy thing too was that MCR wasn't originally supposed to play. They were a last minute replacement after Blink had to drop off a few days before the show because Tom got pneumonia. Little did we know it was the last chance to see MCR for ten years!
Where does Chicago fall on that, because I was going to go to a different show that night, but if Punchline is opening that might be enough to sway me to this show instead. Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to look up this info myself
that was the preferable option for me, too. punchline might be enough to get me to plop down my $47 (!) and finally check this venue out.
It's a really nice venue with great food. I don't even know if I'm going yet, but if I do I'll probably look for a cheap secondhand ticket closer to the date.
Ya I love Chop Shop, and Punchline is making it really enticing. It's either this or going to see Ludo do You're Awful, I Love You.
