This might be the first time I try to stay spoiler free for the tour. I’ve never had self control to avoid the setlist for anything. But between October 2021 (and the gap before that due to the pandemic) when I saw Manchester Orchestra and Thrice back to back weekends, I’ve only seen The Eras Tour in Tampa. Haven’t been to a show for my music in too long. I sold my Twenty One Pilots tickets that were for this Friday night. Just didn’t have it in me to go to a show alone and my 9 year old isn’t ready for that type of environment yet, even if he loves them.
I like this album a lot. Vesper Light is an early stand out but that sort of sound is what got me back into Thrice anyway. I love the dynamics and contract.
not sure the extent to which we fuck with custom tracklists here, but here's what i got as far as trying to make an intermixed complete horizons tracklist 1. the color of the sky 2. scavengers 3. dead wake 4. open your eyes and dream 5. gnash 6. crooked shadows 7. summer set fire to the rain 8. still life 9. holding on 10. unitive east 11. blackout 12. northern lights 13. undertow 14. dusk 15. the dark glow 16. robot soft exorcism 17. distant suns 18. dandelion wine 19. vesper light 20. unitive west tried to pace it so the first half was the more linear rocky cuts and the back half was the deep end so to speak, with the unitive cuts acting as each disc closer
I do believe survivors* actually. Fuck off. The main accusations from what I understand were intentionally fabricated and admitted by the accuser. We’re not doing this. I’m not gonna hold water for TOOL. It was a comment by me and multiple users that there was a comparison in sound. We weren’t telling people to listen to them.
no albatross? also missing buried in the sun and the dreamer but i know everyone in here hates those so i figured it was intentional lol
I'll raise my hand for The Dreamer! That twinkling guitar lead gets me every time. Buried in the Sun I can do without.
My personal track lists. H/E The Color Of The Sky Scavengers Buried In The Sun Northern Lights Summer Set Fire To The Rain Still Life The Dreamer Robot Soft Exorcism Dandelion Wine Unitive / East H/W Blackout Gnash Albatross Undertow Holding On Dusk The Dark Glow Crooked Shadows Distant Suns Vesper Light Unitive / West
Buried in the Sun is probably my favorite song on Horizons/East. It's so weird but the bass and drums are just so fuckin sick all throughout.
Buried in the sun is a banger but overall I really like the quieter moody songs, so Vesper Lights on West and Dandelion Wine on East are super standouts for me. I am a late comer to the Thrice reunion, and have really moved towards the more experimental, electronic, quieter, 'weird' stuff as I had no idea they were doing stuff like that.
Buried in the Sun and The Dreamer are my favorite East tracks! On West, Blackout and Distant Suns are probably my favorites now.
The Horizons albums are peak post-hiatus material for me. They dialed in the production they wanted after TBE/palms, shed the hold up a light/black honeys (even if you don't like the Dreamer, it does not fall into the wider rock appeal category), and gotten back to their niche experimental side. And I'm all for it.
I’m really settling in with this record. Particularly those first 7 tracks. Crooked Shadows is a bit of a misstep for me, even if there are some interesting elements there musically. Vesper Light remains jarring to my ear. But there is something undeniably there with that song.
