there is no way C&S will win, enough people don't like that album that it'll lose votes easily because of that there there, came out swinging, i just want to sell out my funeral, PTSD, bloodstream, and more are definitely better
i love their version of Its A Pleasure To Meet You. it works so well as an epilogue to the album and as a direct response to Cardinals. just doesnt quite hold up to Bluest Things On Earth for me
It was a bonus track along with San Andreas. Highly recommended. I definitely prefer it to the album version. If any of you voted without hearing this version, shame on you.
My votes for this round are: Palm Reader (Alternate Version) I Don't Like Who I Was Then You In January Stained Glass Ceilings No Closer To Heaven Cardinals It's (Sort Of) A Pleasure To Meet You Cigarettes & Saints ----------------------------- And with that here's the Morning Of update. There's a couple close matchups but also some tremendous blowouts happening right now. Remember all votes have to be in by 5PM EST tonight. "Palm Reader" (26) vs "Palm Reader (Alternate Version)" (8) - In some ways I'm wondering if people simply haven't heard the b-sides for this record. The album version of Palm Reader vocals turn me off for some reason, after a record of a bunch of shouting, it gets tiring to a degree which I think bogs the record down in my mind. But it doesn't seem to bother other people I guess go figure. "Slow Dancing With San Andreas" (8) vs "I Don't Like Who I Was Then" (26) - Is it b-side-itis with this one? Maybe, but I think I Don't Like Who I Was Then is winning due to being one of the strongest pop punk songs the band has written. "You In January" (18) vs "Thanks For The Ride" (16) - This is the closest match-up of this round, I think it could go either way by the end of the day. Neither of these are particular favorites of mine on the record but a lot of you guys seem to love 'em. Lyrically I enjoy them but what always puts me into the love category for a Wonder Years song is the instrumentals. "Stained Glass Ceilings" (22) vs "I Wanted So Badly To Be Brave" (12) - A lot of people are commenting that this is the hardest choice in this round, something I think I agree with, but is slightly surprising since I seem to remember a lot of people hating on Jason Butler's feature on AP.net "No Closer To Heaven" (8) vs "A Song For Patsy Cline" (26) - This is surprising me, I didn't know people liked Patsy Cline that much, is it dislike for the title track that's causing this? I love NCTH because it's such a switch-up from their previous album closers but I guess people disagree. "Cardinals" (24) vs "A Song For Earnest Hemingway" (10) - I thought Cardinals was universally loved, but I guess a lot of people enjoy A Song For Earnest Hemingway more than I would have guessed. "The Bluest Things On Earth" (31) vs "It's (Sort Of) A Pleasure To Meet You" (3) - You guys like The Bluest Things On Earth a lot more than I do. It might be the weakest on the album for me. "Brothers &" (0) vs "Cigarettes & Saints" (34) - This basically worked out to be a bye, which I think is okay because it seems to be the early favorite for a winner. Though I think Cardinals could potentially clinch a victory later on.

Thanks For The Ride is so sad. i know Dan uses the name Hannah in the song but ive always kinda thought that song was about their friend April who passed away before The Upsides was released. Dan wrote about her a lot in Paper Boats Or Some Poems I Wrote and the final poem he writes about her is absolutely crushing. that song is just so sad, imagining what a deceased friends life would be like had they come out of their coma and kept on living. Slow Dancing has pushed itself into being one of my favorite TWY songs. "my grandfather drove a city bus, so maybe all this wandering in circles comes from somewhere in my blood. my grandfather drove a city bus, so maybe all this restlessness, this discontent, this constant search for progress is in my blood"
You In January is beautiful and its so refreshing hearing Dan just gush over his wife. plus i like that it uses the same keyboard part from Dont Let Me Cave In and kinda functions as a sequel to that track, which may be my all time favorite TWY song
Hopping in here to let you all know that I just dropped a podcast about the band today. It was recorded before the EP was announced, but we mostly talk about their discography that's been released. Check it out here: The Wonder Years Edit: Also, I started a thread for the podcast if anyone wants to discuss episodes, suggest topics, etc. Podcast - Welcome to Geekdom

I Don't Like Who I Was Then is one of my favorite songs by the band, and probably my favorite from this record. I was gonna vote this round but it looks like all the ones I would've chosen are already winning so I'll probably wait till next round.
I think that IDLWIWT is actually one of their weakest pop punk songs and feels like the least thought was put into it of all the songs on the record. So yeah, I'm a San Andreas fan too. They could pump out a whole album of songs like IDLWIWT if they wanted to, it feels like, but it's far more interesting when they experiment (which San Andreas does at least a little).
Does anybody have a copy of that Resume podcast episode Soupy did a couple years ago? All of the older episodes seem to have been wiped from the face of the earth.
Search Results for soupy | Chris Laxamana It looks like that may work (but I'm at work and didn't try to download it)
Unless there's something wrong with my work computer, but that file's dead. I tried downloading it and it said there's no file.
