Re: podcasts, I’ve really been enjoying Belief Hole. Really been scratching that Mysterious Universe itch where they cover multiple stories on the same topic in some episodes. And they haven’t said anything transphobic yet so that’s very tight

unfortunately I think paranormal/conspiracy related media are largely right wing. Mysterious Universe was an Australian podcast that I thought was very good but the hosts have horrible opinions. They sold the show off to two other guys who are really bad so I stopped listening entirely

  8. I tried listening to that Astonishing Stories pod posted about on the last page and couldn't get into the hosts :/ I really, really, really love that the Otherworld format is mostly just someone telling their own (supposedly) true story with minimal interruption. And Jack is a great host, so when he does chime in, it's very casual and conversational. Really don't love anything that sounds scripted, even nonfiction hosts that are putting on too much of a vibe

My ex and I used to nearly die from laughing at Jim Harold’s Campfire Stories. A lot of them are obviously fake and/or religious, but once in a while there will be a few that hit. He is not a great host, which is what used to make us laugh: the same expressive noises during each story, very silly questions, his apparent refusal to exclude stories that sound like someone is just taking the piss.

I called into it once with my story from a week or two ago, lol.

  13. Recently discovered a podcast called Sleep Theories which is like...narrated conspiracy theory stories and urban legends against rain sounds. Nice listen before/in bed.

What kind of paranormal phenomenon would you most like to experience?

I think a weird cryptid would be the coolest, like not necessarily just a strange animal, but i hear tons of stories of things that move unnaturally fast, covering long distances in single strides and just look weird and wrong like you're not supposed to be able to see them.

  15. I don't think I want to experience any of this shit unless I'm with friends, in which case...yeah, a cryptid would be tight. Or a legitimate UFO.

Abduction stories are so fascinating but scare the hell out of me. Same with ghost shit.

I've been reading that John E. Mack book after seeing your post about it a few pages back. The common threads running through different people's experiences are super interesting.

Yeah I'm good on ghosts and don't want to have an encounter besides seeing something in the sky.

  18. Yes!! Fascinating stuff, especially the way it all ties into consciousness theories. I kept thinking that even if a third of what is in that book was true, there was obviously a pattern. Glad you're enjoying it! I need to find something similar to read.

Seeing something in the sky or seeing a cryptid. I don't want anything to happen to me or actually make contact with anything.
