Ryan revealed on a recent podcast that the band were planning on recording a new album with Feldmann before the coronavirus hit. I wonder if that will still be the plan if/when things normalize. In my opinion, Ryan’s guitar work is the most interesting part of SOTY’s sound, and while I’m no expert on Feldy’s discography, I’m worried that Ryan wouldn’t really get to do his thing with Feldmann at the helm. But maybe I’m wrong since it has been a long time since they’ve worked together.
Which podcast is this? I would assume they are still doing something based on all his instagram posts.
He said he's written and demoed enough material for 3 SOTY albums in the last couple years. They're in the process now of figuring out how to fund it and record it.
judging from appearances, live shows and recording footage pre- and during the wolves era, Phil didn't seem into it at all, so I think they're better off.
Just listened to the second episode of the podcast. Wild that they just now made it public knowledge that Bert from The Used does the final scream on Anthem of Our Dying Day. I can totally hear it now.
Been really enjoying the podcast. It's interesting and funny. They're so open it's hard to imagine them not talking about Phil at some point. If Ryan can tell the world he shit his pants I think Phil is fair game. lol
ohh i saw the tweet about the podcast but didnt watch and may have only seen it today actually. But i did listen to the track last night. I heard screaming a couple other times too tho, so was that just Dan then or what?? Also, i tweeted out to the bands i listened to last night, SOTY being one, and those guys actually liked AND retweeted it! That's new for me. So I thought it was super cool of them. :)
Caught up on their podcast. Super entertaining and a new favorite. Excited to hear about the other album cycles! Also, do they now just forget that Phil was ever in the band? Didn’t realize he left on such sour terms if they won’t even bring up his existence.
They acknowledged Phil once, so far. I'm hoping they take the time to address this at some point....not like they owe it to us or anything. It'd just be interesting.
I listened to Letter Kills after listening to the last podcast.... Take Me Back is basically Time Marches On... Letter Kills record was good but theyre not as sick as Thrice
The vibe I get from them about Phil is that he wasn’t a friend growing up and that whatever he did was enough to look past that and kick him out. Overall, I love the podcast. They have great chemistry and the stories they tell are hilarious.
They really ought to because for the majority of their career, he was there and to kick him out and not talk about it? That’s really suspect and they need to come out and be clean about it.
Since the Phil thing in all likelihood has something to do with that governor scandal/trial with his ex wife a couple years back, there could be some legal matters that prevent them from talking about it, and maybe they have some form of contract with Phil. Or they just don't wanna address that stuff in public, which is also understandable. I highly doubt we'll get to hear anything concrete about why he's not in the band anymore.
