Feeling deja vu from 2015 when there was no point in checking #1 on lists because it was going to be To Pimp A Butterfly except this time it's Fetch The Bolt Cutters.

 

Believe NPR is the first one to have Katie Pruitt so far, so I’m pretty thrilled about that. Still easily my number 1 this year.

On my second listen of the Adeline Hotel record. The problem I often have with this sort of music is that it doesn't develop enough for me, and I find it becomes too monotonous and sentimental. This isn't that at all. Loads of beautiful little ideas that don't outstay their welcome, and I really like the subtle rhythms and swing.

 

I am up to 43 albums on my personal list without any of the albums I haven't listened to yet (obvi) or the ones on lists that I need to check out

Also, I liked Kehlani’s album, and if you count Mariah Carey’s The Rarities (previously unreleased songs) then that is a great one too.

 

That Couch Slut record from the Stereogum list is probably the best thing I've discovered across these lists so far. I've been listening to more heavy music this year than I have since like 2013 (I'm still not listening to that much lol) and this is immediately one of my favourites. I think I'm on my 4th or 5th listen in the last 24 hours. The horn break on this track rules.

 

Starting to seem like American Songwriter is my only chance to see Mary Chapin Carpenter land on one of these. I had hopes for NPR.

 

Well the last page of this thread has basically pissed all over my year's list.

What a vile, harrowing, painful, visceral and unrestrained assault that album is. Amazing.

 

No Svalbard on these lists is very sad.

 

I think I'm only doing ten this year, two of which did not even come out this year. I haven't listened to a lot of new albums and even fewer stuck with me. Usually I listen to a lot of new music, but this year I really wasn't in the right mood.
