Should I buy like a 400gb SD card and buy games digitally, or just buy physical?

digital purchases get you roughly 5% back in a rewards currency called gold coins. adds up fast, i've bought three games @ $60 digitally so i have around $10 in credit kicking around. will continue to do digital except for instances of great physical deals.

Are the games tied to the console or account? I know I could google this, but I figured I’d ask here haha.

This will also be my first piece of Nintendo hardware since GameCube when I sold in 2004 lol.

I’ll buy digitally then given physical games seem to be almost the same price lol.

Think I’ll order a 200gb SD card, but I think I might have a 64gb one laying around which would prob be sufficient.

I mean, that's only relevant if physical games would have the same price as digital games, but they're usually cheaper. I mostly buy physical games and usually I'll get them between 10 and 20€ cheaper than the digital price, it just takes a little looking around. There are reasons to go all digital, but money mostly isn't one.

I also plan on asking all Switch related questions here instead of googling. Y'all have helped me out a lot! And I was curious about the whole digital thing, too. I'll probably keep the phsycial Odyssey card in the Switch forever and buy everything else digitally.

I know it’s takes up space but I like having that physical game collection.

You can lend them to friends and sell them too that way.

i primarily play first party titles and indies which are digital only. i don't think i'm close to alone in that. first party don't go on sale for like a year after launch. i think it's a v valid consideration

I didn't think about the re-sell value of the games. I'll have to consider that when I start buying games.

I can’t wait to play Mario Odyssey.

Also animal crossing and Pokémon gen 8.

I beat the main story in Odyssey and loved it. Starting to go through the other kingdoms collecting everything else. I love it.

I've only got so frustrated I cussed once, haha

Indies, sure, I'm talking retail games only. First party titles might not go on sale, but over here at least one of three big box stores will always sell them 10€ to 20€ cheaper than the digital price even on launch day. This might not be the case in the US I guess. Of course games are more expensive here in general too.

Plus you can sell physical games, but that's a another story.

I think I’m just going to go digital because looking at the prices for used first party games here is barely a sale at all. I see some Mario Odyssey copies going for $77 on amazon...

  19. The Switch is the first console I’ve gone 100% digital with and personally, I have no regrets. It’s nice to pick up the switch when you’re headed out or traveling and have everything right there with you. The portability is a huge factor for me.

starting to transition to digital only on Switch. starting with getting Smash Bros because I want that came on on me where ever I go.

I'm over Warframe already, it was fun while I was back home and made me want Diablo even more.

It definitely has advantages to go digital on the Switch, it being portable and all. I personally don't trust Nintendo to keep their store servers up perpetually however, meaning I won't be able to download them at some point, and unlike many games on the other consoles, Nintendo's games usually don't require a service connection to be played properly, meaning a physical collection certainly is the better way to go with regards to preservation. Basically, I can save money (which maybe doesn't apply everywhere), and I prefer to actually own my stuff and have it available whenever and "forever".

I mostly buy triple A physical and digital for indies.

But I’ve been considering going digital for replayablw games like Splatoon, Diablo 3, MK8. Mostly because it’s a hassle to bring so many games. If it’s a singleplayer experience that has a definite end like zelda or mario, I will usually go physical

Animal Crossing and Smash, highly considering going digital.

There was just an amazing deal on SD cards on amazon. $79 for a 400gb. I don't know if it's still happening.
