I'm so out of the loop, just now saw that they're touring w/ Thrice next year. Don't listen to Thrice as much as I used to, but still dig 'em, & haven't seen 'em since the Major/Minor tour, so maybe I'll go? Used to be really into their live show. Plus, I haven't had a chance to see mwY since [untitled] came out. Only downside is, I'm not really that big a Vheissu fan; would prefer a Beggars tour, or Artist. At least that includes "Image of the Invisible" & "Like Moths to Flame." (Also "The Earth Will Shake" & "Of Dust & Nations," of course, though I'd imagine those are still live staples regardless?) Plus, getting some of their newer songs in an encore could be fun. Isn't Drug Church that hardcore band w/ the guy from Self Defense Family? That could also be fun.
something new I want to try out: So I wanna try out something new. With [Untitled] being a year old next week, where do you see yourself placing it? Would you rank it as your favorite mwY album? Feel free to post your thoughts in the poll thread. [Revisited]Weekly Poll: Favorite mewithoutYou Album • forum.chorus.fm
I never feel particularly pulled by this album. Would probably place it as my #4 or #5 album from them.
I really love this album but it is hard to listen to the whole thing at once. By the time I get to New Wine, New Skins I feel so heavy. Tortoises, dormouse, and Julia are some of my favorite songs they have ever made though, and I do think this album is their best.
My goodness it does not feel like it’s been a year. I mean, that goes for like every release but especially this one
I listened to [Untitled] for the first time while out of town and eating In-N-Out (which I believe I broadcasted here) so that nice association cuts down on the heaviness a bit. But as far as my favorite albums go, I put this in the same category as Sufjan’s “Carrie & Lowell” and Julien Baker’s “Sprained Ankle” as one of those uniquely devastating records that’s too beautiful for me to not go back to on a regular basis. And it does leave me hopeful by the end. Hopeful and broken, but hopeful nonetheless.
I feel like almost every new mwy album is just a better version of the previous, with the exception of this one in that this feels pretty distinct from the rest f their material to me. I usually listen to this or pale horses when I crave mwy
theres a million different ways this band can lean stylistically, they can be very open ended, and I hope the next album is a whole lot different than untitled
This album was easily the most engaged I’ve been with a new release from them. PH obviously grew to be amazing, but after I finished untitled i immediately wanted to press play again
I'm all over the map with them. I can play Untitled, PH, Ten Stories, or B/S whenever. Think I reach for B/S the most though, followed by PH since it's so great to run to.
