Fred again has a habit of making music that sounds inferior to the music he’s trying to ape.

 

Please tell me who he is aping on his Actual Life series because this albums are unlike anything else I know

 

It’s just a slightly modern spin on the electronic music prevalent in the late 2000s/early 2010s. It’s all over the place.

 

Four Tet, Caribou, Floating Points, Tourist, Overmono and DJ Seinfeld come to mind for similar stuff. Some of Bonobo's latter work too

 

I listen to most of them as well, similar sure, but I think what Fred is doing is very much it's own thing with the found sounds, the way he uses conversations, dialogue, etc

Samy Deluxe - who is kinda like Germany’s Jay Z in terms of status/legacy but has retreated into underground rap in the last decade or so - put out an album with Conductor Williams (Griselda producer) today.

 

Wasn’t really sure where to post this record, but looks like the hip hop thread is the only place El Michels Affair has ever been brought up so here it is. Album is really good

Underrated Aes IMO

 

Today I had the thought that Respiration by Black Star might be the best rap song ever written

 

Great song but I’m not sure it’s even the best song on that album, let alone all of rap

 

What’s your fav on that album?
