    The Lucky Moose

    Still A Threat Prestigious

My first rap album was LL Cool J’s G.O.A.T. I bought it in 2000, the year it came out. I was 11 I think. A day later my sister’s boyfriend gave me Mobb Deep’s Hell on Earth, Nas’s It Was Written and Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). It was a pretty solid start, haha. When I was 12 or 13 I then really started getting into current stuff as well as all the classics (and then whole discographies) from the 80s and 90s. I liked digging. I still do, but Spotify has made it a different experience.

Internal Affairs by Pharoahe Monch is probably my favourite 90s record. But it changes all the time.

Edit: actually, it alternates with 36 Chambers

This is like a opinion gaining steam but I disagree. I think it’s just that the remix/remake is overplayed.

My first 90’s hip hop album had to have been The Slim Shady LP. Then I listened to a lot of Beastie Boys but mainly their greatest hits. After that probably Illmatic and Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous.

That Big L album is a slightly overlooked classic that has really aged well imo

I just like that the original is a lot darker than the remake. The remake isn't bad or anything, just find it a bit poppier. I would argue that the original Crossroads is one of their best songs overall.

I can see that. I like poppy 90s rap though lol I will ride hard for Big Willie Style

I used to seek out old 90’s classics and just generally try to better familiarize myself with the genre but I’ve been slacking for years lol need to get back on it. There’s sooo much out there it can be overwhelming.

this is pointless talk because it’s obvious but like Nipsey’s second verse on Dedication is such a great verse. The flow and charisma he has on it is top notch.

Wait, does Logic say the N word in that new song with Eminem? I don’t listen to Logic or know anything about him but I thought he was white?
