Just a thought, would anyone be interested in a separate Peloton thread, where members talk bout classes and instructors, so as to not clog up this feed?
Yes! I would love that. I’ve really started branching out in the peloton app and doing classes other than cycling
We all know that lifting weights can build up our muscles. But by changing the inner workings of cells, weight training may also shrink fat, according to an enlightening new study of the molecular underpinnings of resistance exercise. The study, which involved mice and people, found that after weight training, muscles create and release little bubbles of genetic material that can flow to fat cells, jump-starting processes there related to fat burning. The results add to mounting scientific evidence that resistance exercise has unique benefits for fat loss. They also underscore how extensive and interconnected the internal effects of exercise can be. Lifting Weights? Your Fat Cells Would Like to Have a Word.
Wait did lil mice lift weights somehow? I know I can read the article but I prefer to envision lil mice with teeny dumbbells
I was out of town for 3 weeks and on vacation for part of it, so I took that time off from working out for the most part (I went for a morning run once a week) and also was NOT eating (or drinking) healthy in the slightest. It was nice to take the time off at first but, by the end, I was really starting to feel like shit. Now, after 3 days of being back to it, I feel so much better other than being a little sore.
I'm sick with a cold so the only exercising I've done is light walking which is annoying. I'm busy next week so prob won't do much even if I feel better. I'm the kinda person where it doesn't take much at all for me to break a good habit so I hope I feel better soon
Forgot how much I hate gym bros. Back to working out in my building’s gym and this one dude is just using like 6 machines at once, throwing weights around, etc. So fucking obnoxious.
I’ve been on vacation all week. And eating like crazy. Not looking forward to weighing myself when I get home tonight
I'm going to Hilton Head from August 6-August 15 and already dreading how much I know I'm going to eat and drink and not be active.
I was in OBX for 8 days and only gained 3 pounds after all day every day drinking. Probably sweated out half the booze ha.
We did a 4-day getaway in June where we pretty much drank morning to night for three of those days and was shocked to find out when I got home I didn’t gain a pound. I drank light beers - so that probably helped and I swam a ton, which was good exercise and didn’t eat like a total dipshit. But, 8 days is gonna be tough. Might try to do a mile or two walk every day on the beach.
Started doing a bunch of single leg exercises recently. Lunges and single leg deadlifts are humbling.
i def notice more consistent weight loss/fat reduction when lifting routinely. I also try and do a 15-20 minute run to get my heart up to 170-180 bpm and then immediately go into lifting as well
I've been doing strength based training routine YouTube videos and there's a special place in hell for people who don't include the one legged deadlift until the end. By then I'm usually tired and shaking and can't do it with correct form and I can't balance on one leg. Put it at the beginning or bust.
I started taking a mass gainer protein powder in the mornings because I generally just eat frozen oats and hard boiled eggs during the week while I work. holy shit it has made a difference in my weight training, I started taking it about four weeks ago and have put on about four pounds since. it is a v good supplement to have imo if you have a certain amount of calories you want to reach in a day
I've been struggling to up my weight in this regard for a while so that's good to hear. Which one in particular are you using?
it is optimum nutrition serious mass, I use the banana flavor because I usually toss in frozen strawberries/banana in it as well and powdered peanut butter but I think most of the flavors they have are generally good. a full serving (two scoops) is like 1,250 calories so I generally just do one scoop to one a scoop and a quarter. its nice too because it comes with a lot of daily vitamins as well, I go to the gym about 5 days a week and usually do about two miles on the treadmill as well, so im burning a decent amount of calories, and being able to sustain/even put on some weight and muscle is a plus. the only real downside is it is a 12 pound bag, but if you take the 2 scoops each time, you maybe get about 16 total servings. which is why I try to spread out the amount I use, lol.
I can gain what could politely be called “mass” as well and I don’t need to no protein powder to do it!!!
