To add to the defense of HH, they just write really catchy rock songs and the lyrics resonate with some people. I think a lot of JT's lyrics are a little weak (using words because they rhyme with no deeper meaning), but that doesn't mean there are some really great lyrics. Whatever, they're an awesome band who stay true to themselves and they write really catchy songs. They're also the nicest human beings on earth. So. To each their own. The new album rules and I love it.
yeah im 5 tracks in and it isnt doing it for me. lyrics are usually the big decider for me when it comes to artists and a lot of these lyrics are pretty bleh. not a fan of JTs vocals even after all these years but hey theyre doing what they love so i cant rly fault them for that i guess.
just played it, this sort of reminds me of the last senses fail album. just a fun pop punk record. The lyrics arn't great but it does what it sets out to do.
Cool track by track/interview Hawthorne Heights reflect on growing up on the road on ‘Bad Frequencies’ - Features - Alternative Press
I disagree with your score but its a well written review. You ever consider doing user reviews for sputnik and looking for music writing positions? You could do really well at it I think.
I honestly think the title track is kinda terrible but the rest of this record is right up there along with Hate as the best stuff they've ever done
something about the screaming on it just sounds awful to me. I think just the way it's produced? however In Gloom, The Perfect Way to Fall Apart, and Straight Down the Line are in my opinion some of the best tracks they've come out with ever.
I still stand by what I said after hearing the singles - this record reminds me a LOT of Real Talk by Man Overboard but with much better lyrics and rougher around the edges
I felt it was more natural on that song. But to each their own! You named some of my favorites as well as the best, include crimson sand in there too of course
