Whoa, that rules. Thanks for the heads up!

Wish they would do a Dark Horse one, too. I always used to check the comic rack at the convenience store for those as a kid, haha.

    Minus One is indeed fantastic.

And with Monarch, I'm just as excited, if not more excited, for the future of the franchise compared to other cinematic universes.

Just started through this. One if the few Godzilla games to have 30 monsters - all of them that were in films up to Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II

Just finished episode one. This is exactly where I was wanting the MonsterVerse to go after 2014. Good stuff.

I'll admit the trailers look good, but I wasn't too interested in the show. But the reviews I've read sound promising. I might just have to check it out.

I love seeing computer nerds in shows/movies who do all their shit on the screens with just their keyboard and no mouse, hahahah

Great first two episodes; very much in line with the mood and acting from the films. Great build up with plenty of mystery and intrigue, setting up the rest of the season.

So is the modern timeline in this supposed to be set between 2014 Godzilla and King Of Monsters?

Almost done rewatching 2014 Godzilla for the first time since it came out; fuck, this is sooo good. The quintessential monster movie. So many incredible shots and scenes

Godzilla 2014 would be my favorite Godzilla film if the night scenes at the end of the film weren't so dark. I have to turn the brightness up on my tv and even then it's still not enough sometimes.

G’14 is certainly the best American film and it’s better than plenty of what Toho has made. There are some moments in ‘14 which feel as if they didn’t live up to what they could be and killing Cranston off 40 minutes into it is a choice. Monarch is recreating the atmosphere of ‘14, so that’s a relief.

The original ‘54 film is my favorite, although, the effects are…1950s. Shin Godzilla, Mothra vs Godzilla, and Minus One are up there.

As a kid 1985 and All Monsters Attack (Godzilla’s Revenge) were my favorites, but after watching the original ‘85 (Return of Godzilla) I realized how much New World Pictures butchered it. All Monsters Attack is still good due to the chain-smoking toy maker and 60s Kawasaki.

What I’d really like to see from the MonsterVerse is an attempt to make some of the new monsters actual characters.

Monsters such as Mothra and Rodan worked because they were characters after their initial solo films, while in the MonsterVerse all of the new monsters are basically “look big monster #5!”

The MUTOs were fun and original. I’d like to see more of them. Perhaps one that is neutral and is an ally of Godzilla. Some new monsters that are the result of humans messing around where they shouldn’t (similar to Biollante or Hedorah) would be great. We kinda got it with MechaGodzilla but I’d like to see something more biological.

If there must be a big bad then I feel like that’s the next step to go towards. Ghidorah was used very early, and there can be a MechaGhidorah down the line, but there are plenty of options to find something more menacing and demonstrative of “humans vs nature.”

Basically, I’m fine with more original monsters but they gotta start feeling like characters instead of filler. At the very least give them a characterized “theme” to set them apart from the rest.

And then they form a union. Godzilla intervenes cause Godzilla is a tool of corporate fascists.

The military did blow up all of their babies, tbf. Momma tried to make it even but then Godzilla blew her head off.

And then you had a remaining MUTO bow to Godzilla at the end of KOTM. Total cuck.

Dougherty is the reason KOTM is miss, I personally think. He was as much of a fanboy as he was a director. Sometimes that works, and sometime you make the final fight be in Boston just because it’s where you grew up and you want to see a monster fight in your hometown. His sense of humor was off and led to some pretty terrible dialogue. The ORCA is dumb, too. Ghidorah easily could have been woken up due to something else.

The other reason being that it was the third film and no one knew how long the franchise would last. Kinda a “this may be it, throw everything in it. No need to really think it through.” It sucks that we only get one actual decent fight in the film (Rodan, Ghidorah, Godzilla in Mexico) and the other fights are ether in snow or rain.
