I asked Jason a while back about an option to make "Unread Followed Threads" the default. He said he'd look into it, but for now, the best option is to bookmark http://forum.chorus.fm/followed/threads
I'm gonna double down on my idea of not having the "unread messages" indicator on the main forum.chorus.fm page. If anyone can completely read every post in every thread of an entire forum, then I commend you, but for me those indicators are never going to go away
Probably been mentioned, but as we expand, can the music forum maybe get sub-forums? I think it might be easier to navigate if we broke it down to maybe 6 or 7 subs. I know it'd probably be hard to narrow down to just a handful, but I think it might make things easier in the long run.
I wanna see what becomes the most popular sorts of topics and things like that, but yeah, sub-threads are definitely a possibility for all the forums and if it all gets really popular probably necessary.
yeah i mentioned an idea like this recently in the chat thread. :) i know there are prefixes but there are many other topics besides bands and albums, so i think it could help to have some extra separation in the long run
@Jason Tate If I want to post multiple media links in one post how can I stop it from auto embedding? Threads generally become impossible to load when there are dozens of media embeds. This happened on a few threads on AP where every post had at least one YouTube embed.
I put this together today: Getting To Known Chorus; Cheat Sheet / F.A.Q. • forum.chorus.fm I'll add more to it when I think of some more.
Tour Discussion • forum.chorus.fm It's kinda hidden because it's a sub-forum of the music forum since it was used by a smaller group of, but very dedicated, members. It's on the mini-nav on the bottom of all pages and on the forum home it's right after the # of posts.
Could 'question of the day' be a thread type in each forum? Putting that at the beginning of each post is going to look silly if we continue it and move into other forums.
Triple post. Can we steal Stereogum's "Comments of the Week" Thread? Top 10 Most liked and a couple staff-chosen ones. Would be a fun thing for the community.
I've always liked this idea. I think it would be a lot of fun. I could probably (relatively) easily grab like "most liked posts between date X - Y" and have it posted each week ...
Well, it would definitely encourage adoption of the like button. From there, you'd just have to quote all 10 posts. The single "Most Quoted" post would be an interesting jumping off point too, although I can foresee weeks where it might drive more negative interaction than positive.
Could do it per forum too. Like have a thread that gets bumped each week with the top X liked posts in that thread for the week. Maybe. Dunno if a new post each week would make sense? Maybe? Adding to my think about list.
If you could automate the "top liked" posts, that would certainly save a lot of formatting trouble. I do like the idea of someone curating a comment though. Maybe instead of putting that on staff, some posts that qualify (i.e. above a certain 'likes' threshold, but from less travelled threads? idk) can automatically be put into a poll of some kind for fan voting? Idk maybe the thread can just have a CTA for users to quote their favorite posts of the week in there. The post thing was just a random way to ignite chatter, but it probably wouldn't work well. I personally don't think this QOTD thing is sustainable, but as we've talked about in other threads, the site could benefit from some more structured conversation starters.
Just a small suggestion: Would it be possible to have a "Fest" or "Festival" tag in addition to "Tour" for the Tour Discussion sub-forum?
what do you think about making Prestigious/Supporter flair a clickable link that goes to the payment plans page so newbies who see the flair can more easily find out what that means? might be superfluous but idk just thought of it
@Jason Tate sorry if this is newbish, but is there a way to mass select followed threads and hit unfollow? i want to receive instant notifications, but only for certain threads.
