Donald Glover has been cast as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Lucasfilm announced today that Donald Glover, an acclaimed actor, award-winning writer, and Grammy-nominated artist, will be playing the part of Lando Calrissian in the still-untitled Han Solo Star Wars film, helmed by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Glover will join Alden Ehrenreich — previously cast as Han Solo — in bringing two iconic Star Wars characters back to the big screen, but at a time in their lives previously unexplored.

I was pretty down on this when I first heard the rumors a while back, but after watching Atlanta I'm really pumped about this. I think he'll do a fine job.

Huge Star Wars fan but I wasn't really that excited about a Han Solo stand alone. Would much rather see Obi Wan or something from the Old Republic. That said, Donald Glover is awesome in everything he does and Lord/Miller have yet to do wrong so I'm actually pretty stoked for this.

Seriously a perfect choice. Atlanta has been fantastic so far. Just hoping his new album drops soon. Would love some more Childish Gambino!

Technically lord/Miller did Son of Zorn but it was ambitious so I won't hold it against them

I watched the first 2 EPs. Pilot is atrocious but the second is significantly better. Concept is cool and definitely different for network tv, but execution is lame. Maybe it could get better in future seasons but I don't see it getting past a season 2

Stoked about his casting. A little worried about Han's, though

It's finding its feet like most new shows do. A couple good episodes, a couple rough episodes. When it's good it's really good though!

    He's good. Watch Hail, Caesar!

I love all aspects of Donald's career. Unique music, grade a tv show that he created (Atlanta), was a writer for 30 Rock, an actor in the smartest tv show (community), and one of the most memorable standup specials in years (ala shaft), he's super charming, and not even 35 yet.

It's got a very strange tone- if they can make that work for them consistently, ala Last Man on Earth, it could start to be good. Tim Meadows makes anything better and it's nice to see Cheryl Hine in something. Pemberton is better on Superstore though. That show is fantastic.

So incredibly excited for him. He's gonna have to make his voice deeper (lol) but he's going to do great.

I could see him becoming an A-lister like Chris Pratt did by this time next year

Has anyone dropped Childish Lando in here yet?

Really, really happy (and surprised) about this casting. I can't wait
