No thanks. Especially with JRJR. Finished up Clean Room. The ending was pretty abrupt, but I liked it.
Funny enough, the last that I really enjoyed new JRJR was that Miller Dark Knight prequel with Joker and Robin:
My shop had a flea market, so I got Captain Britain by Alan Moore and Alan Davis, and Batman 100, $5 each. Also got Unworthy Thor #1 and a couple Bendis Iron Man issues I needed (in variant cover form) for $1 each. I'm hoping to get a table for the next flea market next month to unload some stuff I don't want anymore for cheap and make a little money... for stuff I want more of, lol.
Catching up on some reading from the past few weeks. Spectacular Spider-Man continues to be wonderful. Zdarsky has such a strong grasp on Peter/Spidey, and Adam Kubert's art w/ Bellaire colors has all the personality and energy said writing needs. I love that it's such a playful, casual little story, but also has an intriguing plot to keep me curious about the next issue. The latest Hawkeye issue was one of the better ones in what's been in my opinion a flawless 8 issues thus far. I'm gonna say this every month: Kelly Thompson should get a chance to write more high-profile Marvel books. Dauterman and Wilson are missed in this current Mighty Thor arc, but the "Death of Mighty Thor" story this fall surely deserves their full effort. In the meantime, I do dig this War Thor story. I don't know if he's gonna stick around, but I like the idea of a Thor who is filled with pain and righteous fury. Just another good Spider-Man issue. I'm just a little concerned about the direction Bendis is gonna take Bombshell in, but I've overall quite enjoyed this recent stretch of issues. I was surprised how much I loved Avengers #9. It was officially a Secret Empire tie-in, but functionally it was just a delightful done-in-one story by Waid and Del Mundo about Thor stranded without Mjolnir (but still in Thor form) from a charming alien's perspective. You don't really need to know much Thor, Avengers, or Secret Empire to appreciate it. I'm glad that this wonderful creative team was able to make such a nice little tale in the midst of this big, controversial summer event.
Those of you in this thread who are into darker stories should check out Gerry Conway's Carnage run. Read the first trade between last night and this morning, and I'll probably read the other two today. The FBI teams up with John Jameson (who unknowingly still has the Man-Wolf in him), Eddie Brock, and the lone survivor of Kasady's first mass killing as a kid, hoping to take Carnage out once and for all. The abandoned mines they use ends up being home to a Darkhold cult that wants Carnage for their own reasons. It's a fun, creepy series using a couple elements of the Spidey world without feeling like a Spidey story.
I'm not sure I understand what is going on in Black Science anymore, but it is certainly a joy to read.

Fairly certain Midnighter and Apollo is my favorite superhero love story ever. Just loved how it was written.
Justice League: Timeless was the best of the Rebirth stories, but man, they need to get their shit together with these JL books. None of them stack up to the New 52 stories at all.
Finished my reread of Superior Foes this morning (for the podcast I'll be doing w/ Deanna). First time reading it since it came out. The ending was just as fulfilling the second time. As much as I hate Nick Spencer politically and how that came out in his Cap work, dang do I love this series.
I was just catching up on SDCC stuff and I saw Frank Miller talking about how amazing he thought the WW movie was. As an argument in the film's favor he said something like "Nazis make great villains." How can you watch that entire film and not realize the movie is set in WWI and not WWII?
Hitch's story has really grown on me over its course. I was blown away by some of those images of the Timeless. Just the sheer amount of them was impressive. Pretty sure the next bunch of issues are guest/fill in issues and those were all pretty lame.
Hey hey, just wanted to let you all know that I started a thread for WTG. Podcast - Welcome to Geekdom It would be rad if those of you who have listened or guested followed it! @Tim and I will be recording a comics episode today.
I'm in love with the latest Ms. Marvel trade. Didn't like the last one because of the crap tie-in, but this one is just great.
I'm now 2 trades in. Will probably read the third this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story ends. The Civil War II tie-in? I honestly loved that arc. The whole event premise felt to me like just an excuse to tell the kind of story G Willow Wilson is already so good at telling. Dang laptop, lol.
Kind of just want to bask in (Captain) Batman punching someone in their exposed heart in All Star for a moment.
