Looks like a big editorial shake up just happened at DC. Bob Harras is EiC, but below him are three Executive Editors who are each in charge of their own little kingdom.

Pat McCallum, of Wizard Magazine fame, now is in charge of all Superhero books. Mark Doyle, who had been in charge of the Batman books since 2014, will now be in charge of Vertigo and Young Animal.

All the rest, Hanna Barbara, Wildstorm, etc. go to Bobbie Chase.

I really hope Doyle revitalizes Vertigo. That imprint has lost its way since Karen Berger was forced out. And when Doyle was at Vertigo before he gave us American Vampire and Scalped.

I personally think the common Iron Man comparison makes more sense than Batman. (Funny when you consider how big Stark's presence will be in Homecoming.)

But, yeah, although I don't keep up to date on Amazing, I did read Clone Conspiracy and like it a whole lot. Jim Cheung is a great artist.

Not that I know of. It just looks like a restructuring / rewarding those who championed Rebirth.

As I understand it, Pat McCallum was a big supporter of Rebirth and did a lot of work on that, thus he is getting promoted. Doyle was a "group editor" of the batman books, but he is getting promoted to overseeing Vertigo / Young Animal. It does seem that Jamie S. Rich might be getting overlooked here. He was doing work editing on Young Animal and Vertigo. So, he is getting passed over, but he sent out a facebook message stating that he is excited to work with Mark.

EDIT: BC is also reporting that DC isn't sure who is going to take over the Bat family. Evidently, it might be a few people who carve out certain books. That will be interesting to see, because Batman is far and away DC's best selling character, with BATMAN consistently being the highest selling book each month.

The most recent Aquaman arc was so good (despite the name...H 2 Point 0...) Basically an underwater horror/slasher, sort of similar to the first half of The Wake.

(finally finding time to read Wednesday's pull so I'll probably be posting about that stuff)

I'm recording an episode on Darth Vader Vol. 1 today. It should be up a week from Tuesday. And Tuesday's episode is all about Marvel Unlimited. Yay comics!

I've heard nothing but bad things about it and I'm only on issue 2 so I'm expecting it to shit the bed soon but I'm reading Civil War 2 and loving it. I think it would be hard for me to hate something with art this good though.

Also Captain America's new shield is super lame.

Its greatest failing was that it dragged real bad by the end, with pretty much everyone just wanting it to end. But, reading it all after the fact will probably help that a lot.

And yeah, as I've said a lot, including just the other day, I loved the art. David Marquez w/ Ponsor on colors is just so delightful. If you haven't yet, you should check out the first arc of Invincible Iron Man that Marquez did with Bendis. Some gorgeous art there, too.

Yeah I've read that mainly because of the art, ha. Didn't bother with the other volumes because I can't stand Mike Deodato's art.

Really? He's a clear downgrade from Marquez, but I tend to enjoy most modern Deodato art I see. I thought he did some cool stuff in what I read of Iron Man after taking over.

I think his stuff is so ugly, it always looks almost computer generated or something to me. Like 3D models, not sure if it's just the way it's coloured or what but it's the same whenever I come across his art. He near-ruined a lot of Hickman's Avengers issues for me.

  14. Gonna give Spider-Man 2099 a run. Cause why not

Though issue 5 of Civil War II and as someone who's read pretty much every big marvel event since 2000 in the last year, so far this is shaping up to be my favourite, ha. It would have to end horribly for me to end up with a negative view of it. Super surprised considering all I've heard was how horrible it is.

I haven't read any of the tie ins yet though and it seems like a lot of the hate for it stems from a lot of peoples favourite books being sucked in with needless, boring CW2 tie ins which is a problem with most events from what I've seen.

@Jason Tate reading all these Spider-Man comics and talking about them in here brings me joy, 'cause really, all good Spider-Man talk does that.

Except when people praise the Raimi films.

Just to add to me loving hated things.

When I did my Spider-Man rewatch I really enjoyed Spider-Man 3. Emo-Peter was honestly one of my favourite parts of the whole Raimi trilogy, haha. It was so fun.

Most of the books that I read through CW2 tie-ins did a good job of just being another strong arc of the series. Ms Marvel's tie-in arc used the event backdrop very well, and Spider-Woman just focused on Jess and Carol's friendship. I think All-New Wolverine was the only one that bothered me, and it had dipped a little in quality before the event came along anyways.

But, yeah, I'm shocked that you love it as much as you do, lol. My favorite event is still easily Hickman's Secret Wars. Dang was that final issue satisfying.

That's what I'm hoping for, I assumed Ms Marvel would be great because it always is, ha.

Secret Wars was my favourite until now. It might still be depending on how this ends..

If you've loved it this far, you probably won't change your mind now. It ended mostly on what I'd call a whimper, but it doesn't make any specific egregious missteps that I can recall. The end of Ulysses' story was pretty neat.

Ugh Postal is so good, It's been a long time since I've given a shit about a relationship but I'm pulling for those crazy kids.

Eternal Empire was ok, didn't super grab me in the first issue.

    Paper Girls is perfect.

Bane Conquest didn't really grab me but I'll be sticking around no matter what.

So glad to see Jessica Cruz finally at the corps.

    Jessica Jones was great.

I think Outcast is at its best, I love this storyline and I'm so glad that certain characters are coming together. Also cool that they finally straight up explained the lore. And it sucks that Season 2 is out but not playing in America, get your shit together Cinemax, nobody likes you.

Savage Things is super violent and fun

    Black Monday Murders also great.

And the Button was sooo good. Who knows how King would have handled it, but having Joshua do the script definitely worked, that's a pretty goddamn emotional moment in batman history, and I think he nailed it. Wonder if we'll actually get a Watchmen character in the finale.

Reading the second volume of the MM Spider-Man and loving it as usual. The Civil War II tie ins are really good, I like getting some focus on Miles/Ms Marvel/Nova and seeing them try and decide what to do during all of this. One of the few issues I had with CWII was that it didn't make sense to me that everyone would join up an fight each other but I feel like this does a good job explaining that for Miles at least which makes the whole thing more believable to me.
