I think you'd be better off going to B&N and say you got it as a gift. It'll have a quicker return. I've never had a problem with IST's customer service. They've accommodated me on orders that were bungled. Not sure if you'll have to send it back.
Second Superman trade is wonderful. This book is such a bright spot for DC. The interactions with his son are A+. Jimenez is such a fantastic artist, particularly drawing Supes.
Ditto, I liked, but didn't love it. I think the art is great (always been a Bagley fan) and there's kind of a Deadpool feel to it at the moment. It went by fast and I'm interested in seeing where it goes. Not so sold on that costume yet, but it's not as awful as I thought it may be. Looks good in action, and I like the origin. Ben needs some plastic surgery. Curious what line he walks as a person in this one. The Aunt June stuff was quite funny.
My weekend has so far been spent binging Snyder's Batman run. Havent read most of these since they came out and forgot a lot of the little things in these books. The labyrinth with the court of owls, all the riddler stuff in zero year. Just damn, love it all. About to start Endgame.
Agree with all of this. Got the Deadpool vibe, too. That costume thankfully is going to go away by the end of the first arc and be replaced by the classic one; it's not terrible besides the smirk, but the original is too classic and perfect to redo.
Today, I looked at my bank account and realized that, until I get a full time job, I'm gonna have to trim back a lot on my pull list. I refuse to drop everything until I'm 100% broke, but I am gonna have to make some hard choices, lol.
History Channel is doing a really cool series on Superheroes and the history/influence of comics. Part one was tonight, part two is tomorrow about the Misfit/Monster Characters. They really brought out a ton of great people to discuss them: Geoff Johns, Stan Lee, Grant Morrison, Mark Waid, the Russo Bros, Patty Jenkins discusses Wonder Woman, and Jon Schnepp just to name a few and the best part is Kevin Conroy narrates the whole thing. Highly suggest checking it out.
Did some reading last night. Deadly Class #22-27: The shocking events that concluded #21 kept me away from the book for a while. Coming back and reading the first two issues following those events left me uncertain...my favorite book had made such a drastic change and I wasn't sure I was ready for it. But hot damn, did things pick up steam and I feel silly for doubting. This book is really something else. It just connects with me so thoroughly. And Wes Craig and Lee Loughridge together make the most beautiful pictures. Trinity #1-2: I am developing an interesting relationship with Francis Manapul's work. He is extremely talented as an artist, and he actually has pretty good chops as a writer. And I think his work does benefit when he gets to unify his vision. The work he did on The Flash was very inventive and fun. I just am not the biggest Barry Allen fan. Thus far, I am really impressed with what he has done here. I noticed that he jumps off as the artist soon, which is a shame. I think he could really carry a book if he could produce it monthly.
Almost time for our second "Further Reading" post, for GOTG Vol. 2! I'll be getting the last of the blurbs tonight, and then they'll be posted in the film's thread on Friday morning and shared on the front page on the following Monday (a week from today). @Henry, when I make the post in the GOTG Vol. 2 thread on Friday, can you edit it into its first post? I can tag you in the post when I do it to make it easier for you, and then you can copy and paste it into the thread's first post the way it was in the Logan thread. (I was able to do the Logan one myself 'cause I had made the thread.) Then, I'll be able to PM @Jason Tate so he can queue it up for next Monday. In the next couple days, I'll get the Wonder Woman "Further Reading" assignments finalized in here. That one, like this one, will be due by the Monday of the week that film releases in the States.
No problemo. And I think I'll be good to do a write up for WW. Not sure which books are freed up. If I don't already own whatever is free, I'll just order it. lol
Ooo I didn't know there was a second one out (although I guess I vaguely remembered that since I asked which it was lol). I'll have to grab it when I have this thing called a job haha.
Just came out last week! The first was all over the place, but I hear it gets at least a little bit better.
The newest Justice League arc is worth it for tremendous artwork, it's insane how many of the Timeless they fit on a page. And I'm digging the hell out of the story too, but it's still crazy, out-there Morrison type stuff.
I'm like 2 weeks behind on DC stuff. I should be reviewing The Flash #21 tomorrow and I'm waiting to see if Talking Comics gives me Batman or the new Guardians book to review later this week. Also, had a second interview for a job so fingers crossed I go in for a final interview and get it so I can get myself a big IST order haha.
Free shipping on this for the next two day, might do it hmmmm DC's Young Animal Picturedisc + Comic Book
Finished the ASM Omnibus vol. 1 last night, and now 4 issues into vol. 2; stopped right at the iconic MJ "jackpot" introduction. Romita's romance comic influence started seeping in almost immediately. I like that Lee so overtly spent these initial issues pulling away from Ditko's storytelling style and into laying the groundwork for Romita's. Everything became so much more charming so fast.
Flash #21 review is up now: Review: The Flash #21 - HiFi Noise Reviews for the new Guardians book (Talking Comics) and Batman #22 (HiFi) will be coming this week, too. I'll probably spend a good chunk of today catching up.
