Just listened to the first episode of The Seth Morris Radio Project, and holy shit, what a perfect 25 minutes that was. Really recommend it. Also, theres a 3 minute post-credits scene with a new Bob Ducca list.

 

I know literally nothing about MST3K other than the fact that the cast is totally stacked. Do you think viewers like me will "get it" without any knowledge of the original?

 

Related, the old comedy thread on AP introduced me to Hampton Yount's album. Everyone should check it out ASAP, it is absolutely hysterical. It's on Spotify (and presumably the other streaming services too)

 

I've only watched it casually but I don't think it's too inside jokey

 

the original show had occasional moments of lore/story arcs and, of course, recurring jokes but nothing that ever made a viewer who just saw an episode here and there confused or unable to enjoy it. outside of nods to the original show, i'm sure this new MST3K will be 100% accessible to newcomers.

 

I've only seen random episodes of MST3K and they've always been pretty well self contained. Shouldn't be an issue watching the new ones.

I'm currently collecting the Shout Factory DVD sets, but they're rather pricey. I just picked up the 25th Anniversary set based on the fact that it includes six films rather than four (including Mitchell) and I'll be going home for Spring Break soon, where my parents' internet is capped.
