I think(?) I finally finished mine last night after a couple days of off and on deliberation. There were way too many incredible records this year. Maybe the first time I had stuff I wished could’ve been in my top 10 dip into the 30s. Even going through the “honorable mentions” tier was painful. Gonna hold off on posting til I’m sure I won’t edit it tho

Got my list down to 40 or so contenders. I know my top two for sure, so now it's just revisiting everything else.
gonna put together my list over the next few weeks but Taylor is easily #1 without any close competition, pretty underwhelming year for new releases overall, which is understandable given the circumstances.

Spanish Love Songs - Brave Faces Everyone Hot Mulligan - you’ll be fine Loathe - I Let It In And It Took Everything Taylor Swift - folklore Touché Amoré - Lament Dance Gavin Dance - Afterburner Movements - No Love Left to Give Bearings - Hello, It’s You Enter Shikari - Nothing is True and Everything is Possible Seahaven - Halo of Hurt PVRIS - Use Me Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher Bartees Strange - Live Forever Code Orange - Underneath Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: Survival Horror Spanish Love Songs and Hot Mulligan are so far ahead of the rest of my list. Spanish Love Songs is really scratching that Suburbia era Wonder Years itch and their record is about as perfect for my 2020 mood as can be. Hot Mulligan is doing stuff that reminds me of a yellier early Brand New/Taking Back Sunday while at the same time being more mature than either of those two were at the time. I was not really into Loathe until their most recent record which feels very Deftones influenced while also including metalcore elements.
