Super Smash Bros. Melee n/a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Earthbound i don't have the data, but i'd bet money that Melee is in my top two most played games of all time. there's a reason it's still fiercely defended in the fgc. i am not a competitive player by any means, items for life, but even i recognize how rock solid that games feels and plays. OG Ocarina of Time feels like shit to play these days, but the 3DS update brought it forward beautifully and it's so close to a pure recreation of the original that i feel comfortable letting that influence my vote. i've also never played SH2 lol. THPS3 was the first great THPS game and Earthbound is timeless, so bye THPS2
Portal 2 (1) - I know Melee will probably run away with it but Portal 2 is my pick. The writing and characters and incredibly fun puzzle gameplay puts it well over the top for me. Fallout: New Vegas (33) - I love Asylum, but New Vegas is the kind of game you could really get lost in. It’s one of the best western RPGs of the 2010s. Plus, Arkham City is better than Asylum and should still be alive in the bracket dammit. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (16) - The sense of adventure that OoT imparts on the player is pretty wonderful. Also, it’s incredibly difficult for games from the N64/PS1 era to hold up, but OoT still holds up shockingly well. Earthbound (81) - I cant justify picking THPS2 over this classic, as much as I love THPS2.
Smash Bros Melee - Even when Brawl came out, me and my friends still played mostly Melee, I believe there is still a large competitive scene for Melee to this day. It's fantastic and has aged well. Fallout NV Zelda OoT Earthbound - Fuck, this is where earthbound is going to get beaten. I never expected it to make it TOO far however. Please everyone play Earthbound. EDIT: Oh wow looks like Earthbound is getting some backing so far.
Portal 2 Batman: Arkham Asylum The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Earthbound first three are all pretty easy although it hurts to lose Silent Hill 2. The last one could have gone either way but I feel like Earthbound is just more unique and interesting.
It's on the SNES Classic and also available on the 3DS eShop so no need to go crazy spending on a cart unless for collection purposes.
Melee - honestly probably the game I've put the most hours into in my life. Batman Zelda Earthbound - didn't jump on this until I got my snes mini. What a fun and quirky game.
No pressure but I just want to you know that every time one of you votes against New Vegas a little piece of me dies
It's such a shame that Bethesda forced Obsidian to make that game on a compressed af timeline because a lot of people (myself included!) were severely turned off by the technical state of that game at launch. When I got it on launch day, I played it for a few hours and experienced multiple game freezes/crashes on PS3. It wasn't until years later that I went back and played it and realized how incredible it is.
