Although I will say I'm on team Quinn and Branden after listening to a very enlightening podcast about how that band operates.

Shoutout to @fenway89 for the 2000th like. Being in this thread got me to 2000 way faster than I got to 1000 lmao.

Also I will probably check out the new Used album only because I checked out the new AFI album (which was garbo) and I stopped listening to both of those bands right at the same time in high school, so it seems fitting.

Not at all man. All love from me. Didn't mean any harm by it.

Haha I was quoting Arrested Development
Yeah they aren't great people. Branden was the only like cool one back when they were a local band here.

Too busy for that right now, I'm raging against brackets. They make me want to set myself on fire.

Yeah and Quinn seems like a very standup guy as well. They were supposed to collaborate on a new project but haven't heard anything about it since that podcast. I can try tracking it down. It was really interesting and eye-opening. They were both so candid about their experience in that band.

I have such a strange relationship with Motion City Soundtrack. Tried to get into them back in the Commit This To Memory days, and to this day I actively hate several tracks on that album ("Everything Is Alright", "LGFUAD", "Attractive Today"), Justin's vocal style just did not work for me. Even If It Kills Me didn't do anything to change my mind.

Then My Dinosaur Life came out and immediately floored me - I still regularly rock "Disappear", "Her Words Destroyed My Planet", "Stand Too Close" - all of a sudden his voice sounded less comical and off-kilter and more well-suited to the writing which seriously kicked ass. "Everyone Will Die" from Go is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Looks like it's time to rank protest styles: self-immolation or hunger strike. GO!

plz dont this is a bad joke

I'd love to hear that. Bert and Jeph were both total douchebags back in the day. They both acted super arrogant even though they were terrible before John Feldman got involved. I never really knew Quinn that well. I interacted with Branden the most and he was always just a really awesome dude. Also about the only one who knew how to play his instrument when they started haha

Mine is all of them. (Even Panic Stations).

But actually it's Commit This To Memory and/or My Dinosaur Life.

    But mostly all of them.

Commit This To Memory will always be my favorite, most likely because of nostalgia.

CTTM for sure, with IATM a close second. I like all of them (even Panic Stations) but those two are definitely up there in my favorite albums of all time, CTTM in the top 20 at least.

Edit: Also (sappy story warning) I asked my now-fiancee to be my girlfriend while listening to CTTM, "When You're Around" to be exact (which is maybe one of the worst songs on the album to start off a relationship with). We've talked about playing it at our wedding, whenever that'll be, but that's a big part of why it's one of my all-time favorites.

If I had to rank which, let's be honest, I do, since this IS Chorus.fm after all it'd probably be:

    MDL
    CTTM
    IATM
    Go
    EIIKM
    PS

    801PUNX - Episode 10 - July 17, 2016

It's a little lengthy but totally worth it. Very interesting stuff.

Also worth reading the reaction in The Used band thread at the time. Mine and many others. I linked it to the specific page.

Maybe my head is too far up this band's collective ass, but I really don't think it's nostalgia that makes CTTM great. It's just a damn good record.
