I'm still bummed I didn't go to that show to experience the awkwardness haha. Glad they figured everything out though, seemingly. Now I have another chance to finally see them.
Yeah, I was able to interview James before their Chicago show and he said they would have it out then on Polyvinyl. Can't wait!
they were recording, right? I like the eps better than the lp, I hope they win me back because I really like that kind of shoegazy sound they had
It's done. Also I don't know a single musical difference between their releases, it all blends together
I think new one was more rock-ish, less shoegazey? that's how it felt to me... eps had better songwriting too, I'd say
This bands antics kind of remind me of Death Grips. I too can't tell the difference between any of their releases or even songs tbh. They're fine rock/punk songs but that's about it.
I feel like they're a very special band actually, just something about them to me that feels very important.
Damn, JP's leaving the band: He was one of my favorite drummers, hopefully him leaving won't affect the band's sound that much.
The new record is called "A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings" and is out September 23rd. I love the single, still typical Beach Slang stuff but not the same as their previous songs. Beach Slang Announce New Album, Share New Song “Punks in a Disco Bar”: Listen | Pitchfork
My band are supporting them again while they're back over in the UK. Super excited to play with them again!
What a wonderful statement for a really unfortunate situation. Don't dig the new record much, but I love James' attitude towards things and will continue to see them live no matter how many dud records are to come.
