That Hippos album rocks. I got that on vinyl and CD. The Honorary Title album is great too. And obviously Transit.
outside of my best friend who showed me them ive never heard anyone ever talk about them, online and otherwise
They were bigger in the 2010’s with the Pitchfork crowd. Def not super popular but not unknown at all. We have a thread for them here! Real Estate - The Main Thing (Domino, 2/28/20) • forum.chorus.fm
currently revisiting the powerpop classic Isn't This Supposed To Be Fun!? by Farewell and this song is still the jammer!
Oh man, this just took me back! That album is ridiculously good, and I remember seeing them live at the time when they supported You Me At Six. I have never seen a drop-off so hard with their second album though, so sad, then they disappeard completely
Loved these guys. Spoke to them a few times on MySpace haha. With Houston Calls on support as well? I think I was there are one of those shows.
Farewell are a local band for me so it was wild watching them get 'big'. It was also a bit jarring to hear their sound change for ITSTBF. They posted a lot of demos on Myspace before the album came out and honestly I still like the demo version of War more than the album version. I'll try to track down a rip. Their bass player actually ended up with a large role on a TLC show (My Big Fat Fabulous Life). They played a reunion show a few years ago but I don't think they will reunite again as their guitarist passed away a year or so ago
this band was really good when they were active and last night i stumbled upon a post that they are doing something in some capacity this year.
rumor has it that they didn't have enough material for a sophomore album in the time epitaph wanted to release one so a lot of the songs weren't there's, they were from a former band that producer marc mccluskey was in. and they lost their keyboardist between albums so that changed the sound as well. the lineup you might be thinking of was Amber Pacific headlining and it was Fight Fair, Houston Calls, & Farewell opening, it was dubbed 'the say no to neon tour' which in hindsight is funny haha oh and the first time i saw farewell they were opening up for The Secret Handshake, didn't know them prior but bought their debut at the merch table after i saw em, i was floored away from their set
Whenever Diamond Youth comes on shuffle I usually end up listening to one of their albums/EPs. So good.
This is probably a long shot, but something like a decade ago the vocalist for Deas Vail, Wesley Blaylock, released a solo EP and it is not available anywhere online anymore. Does anyone happen to have this? Have a lot of good memories with it, but lost my audio files of it in a hard drive crash a few years ago.
i doubt anyone will know who i'm talking about but jonas ladekjaer from emarosa had a two piece side project from 2009-2010? that was a post-hardcore purevolume/myspace era thing but i wonder if anyone has heard/remembers them. i've been trying to find that project for years.
Weirdly found it on an unlisted Youtube playlist that showed up in search: Ripped and threw it in Google Drive - didn't update the metadata or anything yet, but the songs are there.
dude deas vail was so good, I remember finding his page when looking into them again a few months back.
I was OBSESSED with this particular album my senior year of high school. I like their other albums as well, but the band members that recorded this album together were the best iteration. I met their former bassist, Jake Brown, at a Moments in Grace concert (the band he was in after Twothirtyeight) and told him outside the venue that I was a huge fan of Regulate the Chemicals and he was so excited to talk to me about it. I remember him telling me that “no one ever knows” about Twothirtyeight so I could tell it meant a lot to him. This Town Will Eat You will always remind me of the bittersweet feelings welling up in me as I neared the end of high school knowing most of these people I’d gotten to know over the years and become friendly with I’d likely never see again. Such a great album.
