I don't know if they've been mentioned here recently, but this album is SO good. Just about as good as pop punk gets. Day at the Fair - The Rocking Chair Years
This is my favorite album from the greater Drive-Thru Records sphere. The hooks are still unreal. I'll fly to the east coast in a second if they ever play another show. Their reunion album is pretty great too, if a bit slower than Rocking Chair Years.
For real though - I would travel way too far to be able to see them live. There desperately needs to be a DTR/adjacent bands reunion fest.
I don't expect anyone to care about this, but the band Revis quietly reformed and last week dropped a six song EP called Bottles Of Lightning, their first full release since 2003's Places For Breathing. It sounds pretty good! Recognizably them, even after so long. One song in particular I know has been around since their failed attempt at a second album in 2010. Very curious if more songs from those sessions will make a comeback and what else they do from here. Unfortunately, I've seen no site pick up on the news. I only found out from my Spotify release radar.
I saw this in my new releases as well and was very surprised! I enjoyed a few of the songs from their debut, and casually followed their career since. I'd read about their failed reunion attempt a few years ago. Glad to see they finally got some new music out, and looking forward to giving it a listen.
Listening to Knocked Loose's recent stuff suddenly made me recall another band that also had a singer with yelly/high pitched screams. I remember it getting mixed reception on ap.net due to the screams and the stigma attached to their label at the time (Rise Records) but this is actually solid melodic hardcore.
Ten Underrated Sub Pop Albums That Could Bring Back the Seattle Supersonics (thehardtimes.net) Chixdiggit! forever!
"Closer" by My Favorite Highway popped into my head this morning, and that's a perfect band for this thread. Loved them so much in 2007-2009.
I'm especially shocked that Jessica didn't go off and have a successful solo career. Her voice is nuts.
Anyone remember or know or Last Year's Hero? A friend made me a mix CD and the first song was "All Over Again" by Last Year's Hero. Circa 2003. All the tracks were from his older brother's CDs - Tragic Vision by Lagwagon, All My Fault by Fenix TX, Letters To You by Finch. But I can't find the Last Year's Hero song anywhere...
https://www.facebook.com/lastyearshero You might find what you're looking for there, or at least can probably message the band and ask them for the tracks.
Anyone remember the band TEAM? Seems like they were only active from 2013-14 and then disappeared. Pretty sure I found them via a rec from Jason or someone else on this site and loved the few things they put out [Spotify | Apple Music]. Indie Rock/Pop type of music.
i was playing THPS listening to my pop punk playlist and this gem came on, anyone remember a hero's fate?
I've probably mentioned them before but Single File. Common Struggles, This Will Be the Death of Us and New Again were on repeat the summer of 2009.
