This is their best album

 

This album is tied for me with LP1. I really like it, but I associate LP1 with them so much and I also LOVE LP1 that I don't think I can put this above LP1. It's better than LP2 though.

 

LP3 is better than LP1 and LP2.

 

I can’t get into it and I love LP1 and really like LP2

LP2 remains one of the bigger disappointments from a band I like in recent memory but it was probably necessary to get to LP3. I revisit it every so often just to see if I've changed my mind but it never deviates from boring to me

I love all three but I think LP2 is my least favorite. Home Is Where the Haunt Is probably a top 5 American Football song for me though.

 

LP2 was like them rewriting the first album but 20 years later. LP3 is just such a vibey album that feels like a rebirth but doesn’t alienate their fan base at all. It’s new sounds but not THAT new.

Agree with this. I still really enjoy LP2 but LP3 was much stronger. My ranking is LP1 >> LP3 >> LP2.

Much love for this band though. So happy we not only got one new album from them but two. If you’d have told me we’d get anything from them again around the 2006 mark when I first discovered AF I’d have laughed.

 

LP3 is my favourite album of theirs and of 2019.

I didn't get into LP1 until way, way, after the fact so it doesn't have nostalgic weight for me, and I liked LP2 when it came out.

LP3 is masterful for me though, I adore it.

American Football headlining a Minecraft festival this coming Saturday!

 

LP3 was my first AF album (only really knew of never meant beforehand), and it seriously blew me away. It has skyrocketed to my all-time list.

I bought LP2 a few weeks back during the bandcamp event and while it seems like it has parts that are cool, most songs end up feeing a band being limited to the conventions of a genre, like the band tried to recapture an established sound. Maybe I need to spend more time with it.
