I say yes. I think the only one that didn't do this was Brand New because of how recent their new release is.
Yea if I didn't have class I'd do this and 'stein simultaneously but some days are a lot more limiting than others. Already behind on the other haha in the meantime, what are everyone's thoughts on blood album vs burials? I think burials has higher highs but lower lows. Lots of questionable decisions on there.
So many brackets of bands whose discog I've gone through but don't know well enough, haha, this actually works out pretty well
Yea I'd love to get in on the ETID one but I'm not nearly familiar enough with most of the songs. Not enough time to learn the entirety of the band haha
I like Burials more overall. Blood has a lot of skippible tracks for me. But threads with brackets have generated more conversation than not.
That gets brought up all the time but it doesn't actually match reality, lol. There's obviously plenty of lists of songs (because there's a bracket happening...) but it's generated lots of discussion in multiple threads I've participated in
Generally there is a lot of discussion because of peoples lists. It's actually a lot of fun and you find yourself making new friends on here who share the same interests, thoughts and musics tastes as you.
Could bracket in the album thread? I think this is a more natural pick but no posts there since June.
I've been surprised at how many fans think Blood is a step up from Burials. I definitely prefer Burials. Off the top of my head, A Deep Slow Panic, The Conductor, Rewind, Greater than 84 and Anxious are stronger than the vast majority of Blood imo. I also think Dark Snow, despite being a decent song, is quite easily their weakest opening track with the current lineup and I tend to expect a great opening song from AFI.
I definitely prefer Burials to Blood. Burials not only has some excellent stand alone tracks, it was a big return to form and almost like a revitalizing of AFI. I Hope You Suffer is possibly a top 10 AFI track for me.
Burials was a nice change for them and a breath of fresh air for fans. Personally, I think they made that change at a good time. It worked for them. But I'm also pleased with how Blood turned out. It took me back to the days where I was obsessed with them. It's not my favorite era of AFI, but I can appreciate it and it feels normal instead of forced. It's safe it's say the Black Sails through Sing the Sorrow days are long gone for fans like me. Which reminds me. It's that time of year to listen to All Hallows EP and Art of Drowning. Shit yes.
Also, we can do a bracket in here but if anything other than The Leaving Song PT. II wins I will burn down a town.
