I basically just dismissed it all. But I definitely don’t believe everything I did then. I donated the vast majority of my Christian books before I moved to PA. I kept some for various reasons and I think I kept Love Wins just for the controversy aspect.

 

iirc I think both “Blue Like Jazz” the book and movie was a pretty solid Christian work. But I haven’t revisited it in years.

Timbaland’s been taking Ls for years. He had no problem working with Nazi-era Kanye. Guy just can’t be okay being a has been.

I impulse bought Dogwood’s More Than Conquerors CD at the gift shop at this Christian camp I went to in middle school and I still listen to that album (and Building a Better Me) every so often. I think those CDs and Five Iron Frenzy are the only “Christian” artists that have made it with me past childhood.

Agreed. But wanted to note that my own post was modeling what accountability in not listening to Christian pop punk bands after age 16 looks like.

To be fair though, if Brand New feels comfortable enough to come out of hiding, why should any other shitbrick care? It's very easy for this behavior to be picked up on and spread. "Cancel culture" is already nonexistent so it doesn't take much.

 

It has been good to see the memes of Jesse being a pedo have broken out enough that Methsyndicate and The Hard Times are dunking on him.

i really did expect better given how far removed he claims to be from that world, but that's just incredibly disappointing

 

He has still collaborated with the other members of DC Talk for their cruises and Tobymac’s solo albums…

 

i knew that he was involved in those capacities, but i had heard he otherwise wasn't that involved in the CCM scene (given that i heard his theological stances lean a bit progressive?). i could be wrong though. still sad to see him downplay these events though

 

So as I’ve been reading more about the Tait case, I came across an account run by a guy who was part of the tour crew about twenty years ago. He’s been calling all of this out for months now. Apparently on Facebook, the current lead singer for The Newsboys, Adam Agee (who took over for Tait after he stepped down for “reasons” back in January), posted this in the comments:



Which obviously runs counterpoint to their statement they released the other day where they said they could “never have imagined” what he was up to. Sure seems like you could actually!

To make matters worse, The Newsboys have also apparently been actively attempting to silence victims and journalists for speaking out:

This person also spoke to one of the victims who was not only assaulted by Tait, but was assaulted when he was underage. So not only has he assaulted a number of men over god knows how long, he was also actively grooming and assaulting underage teens:

And here is one of the messages he received from another victim in which it’s also made pretty clear that, yes, his former bandmate from DC Talk, Kevin Max, also absolutely knew:
