I think Black Mile probably is my favey favourite but I listen to Cope the most just cuz it's so fun.
Probably my take. I remember being very hyped for METN to come out and it exceeded all of my expectations. I loved Simple Math and Cope but they had a few tracks between them that I wasn't huge on. Virgin made Manchester one of my favorite bands really quickly, but other releases are easier for me to listen through again and again as the years have passed. Black Mile just seems to have the best writing and cohesiveness of a band yet and it makes me excited that a band I have loved for twelve years is still making new music that become new favorites. METN Black Mike Mile Cope Virgin Simple Math
It was Simple Math since it’s release. But then Black Mike happened and it’s my favorite with a bullet. I feel like Black Mile takes everything about MO and doubles down on the extremes. The cinematic sheen and narrative to the whole thing just raises the emotional ride of the album as a whole. ABMTTS SM METN ILAVLAC C
METN is tops for me, but Black Mile and Simple Math are right there with it. Cope is just below and Virgin is last, though I do still love that one too.
If I Know How To Speak made it on to Black Mile there would be no question. Hope deserves a shot. Loved that album.
Wasn't sure if they'd top Mean Everything to Nothing in my books, but Black Mile to the Surface is so fantastic. Such a great album.
Now I'm imagining a movie about a guy trapped in a cave-in trying to escape. Black Mike to the Surface.
I have a lot of memories attached to the first two albums, BUT COPE is also a jam. Just wish the mix wasn’t so meh
Black Mile will be etched into the history books as one of the best albums from this decade. Cope also rules and I’ve never taken issue with the production whatsoever. I think it’s a phenomenal, kick-ass album.
A Black Mile is so much better than anything else they’ve released that I still have to pinch myself that the band got that good. I still can’t get into Cope. Simple Math is probably second and the nostalgia of I’m Like A Virgin means that has a soft spot for me. I guess that leaves METN in fourth place. I’ve never liked it as much as others but it does have some solid tracks (Shake It Out may actually be their best song?)
