we finished in like 2nd and 3rd both years i think? there were like 10 teams in our league? so we werent bad! we definitely were like the "wildest" team lol. every one kinda thought we were a joke because every other team had MLB team names and we were the X-Men.

 

These D-Backs uniforms are....different.

Bryce Harper is an awesome ball player. He isn't hated because he's good..he's hated because he's a douchebag who acts like he's god's gift to baseball. Love seeing him 0-3 right now lol

 

How in the world does he do that? I know people hate his hair or that he's confident/cocky, but there's more evidence that he's actually not a douchebag.

I love Bryce. I remember people were on his case for stuff he did in JUCO ball and the minors, but he's been by and large a good dude in the majors. Yeah, he did once drag his foot through the Braves' logo behind the plate, but other than that, I'm having some trouble thinking of much.

He's confident in himself, maybe too much for some folks, but I don't blame him, really.

I have had a couple drinks and I'm pretty sure I'm just mad about when he drug his foot through the Braves logo thing and it makes me bitter. I don't like his attitude and watching him has me so mad right now. Should have thought before posting. My apologies to you.

The Braves logo thing cracks me up because Braves pitchers had done the same thing to the Nats logo on the mound and no one made a stink.

I get that people won't like him for his cockiness, which is fine, but the level of venom behind anything he says and does is so over the top. Wish people would look more into how he treats fans (even of opposing teams where he's getting booed mercilessly), especially children, and the charitable things he's done.

 

He's been cocky his whole life, even when he was all the hype in high school and JUCO. I guess that kind of hype will do that to you? But he backs it up with his play so there's that. Still take Trout over Harper, though.

 

I most appreciate Bryce's call to "Make Baseball Fun Again." Let players have attitude, personality, some flair. These old traditionalist rules are boring.

 

Haha, no worries at all, I was legitimately curious as to why you felt that way -- definitely don't need to apologize to me. I think sometimes people eat up a lot of misperceptions created by the media and that affects how we view certain athletes -- I know I'm guilty of it. It's not even just a Bryce Harper/Nats thing for me, I hate how people respond to Cam Newton as well.

 

That's one thing people don't see about Cristiano Ronaldo. The guy is phenomenal but cocky as all get out. Yet he donates a ton of money and time to charities/community and that's respectable.

 

And it IS absurd pitchers can celebrate but batters can't? Never made sense to me. But him saying all of that had people flipping out and calling him a douchebag some more, or saying he didn't respect the game. Just silly.

 

I never get to talk about this, but Ronaldo's instagram has really transformed how I see him. He has SO many pics of him and his son being goofy and hanging out. It's really endearing and has made me appreciate him way more as a public figure.

 

I think Trout comes off more douchey than Harper personally.

 

I live near where USA baseball is headquartered and have talked to Some parents who hosted him during their showcases etc. said he was cocky. But he was basically being paid to play AAU tournaments since he was old enough to wear a jockstrap. It's bound to happen with prodigies that they are cocky after being told they are the greatest for so long. I used to dislike that about him but some of his recent comment made me realize how right he is.

 

Sounds about like the Rangers as well.

 

Really? Never heard that and I'm not sure how one would make the case. I just think he's incredibly dull as a personality.

 

I've literally never heard trout utter a word. So how?
