I’d do this: 1. Fear and Friday’s (Poem) 2. Overtime 3. Oklahoma Smokeshow 4. Something in the Orange 5. ‘68 Fastback (Live at Red Rocks) 6. Snow (Live at Red Rocks) 7. Dawns 8. Jake’s Piano - Long Island 9. Smaller Acts 10. Burn Burn Burn (Live at Red Rocks) 11. Revival
I don't dislike "You Are My Sunshine," I just think if you show that song to a skeptic, they'd write him off pretty quickly as corny. "Dawns" isn't a favorite of mine personally, but I think it's an easy sell to folks who don't like country music. Other than those, I've had luck winning people over with "The Outskirts" and "Younger Years."
As a fan this is lovely, but I think you'd lose people after 2 live cuts, Dawns and Jake in a row there
My counter would be if you’re trying to convert someone who doesn’t like country then you need to showcase the exuberance of the live cuts and the odd structure/suites of Dawns and Jake’s Piano. It’s what drew me in personally. Which is why I also included Smaller Acts in all of its lo fi glory.
He played Jake’s Piano in Long Island last night. That was probably a moment. Long islanders love a good song about Long Island. Coming from a former long islander.
Swap out "You Are My Sunshine" for "Crooked Teeth" and 'Oklahoma Smokeshow' for "Heavy Eyes" and you're good to go.
The setlist is just unreal. Did the crowd react big to Jake’s Piano/Long Island? The stage set up where he can move to each side of the arena between verses is great. Production seems top notch. Just think he’s heading to football fields in summer. Unreal.
yeah got a lot of cheers during that one haha and yeah the stage setup is just the best. he spends a lot of time in each area so youre never just looking at his back for too long.
