24k ahead of me for Knoxville in an arena that typically holds 16k. But it looks like he added a second date. Still won't get me in the door, probably.
need 3 together and all i can find is fucking $500 floor seats. can't pay that to see this dude in a football stadium. super happy for him tho.
So, after "all my homies hate ticketmaster" and all, you kinda think he would've opted out of official platinum like Taylor did. Unless, post-Taylor debacle and The Cure's tour, they quietly made it so they can't opt out anymore.
Another band (blink?) mentioned, but you can't just simply "opt out" of things with ticketmaster, they are going to do whatever they want to. Taylor was able to do so because she is Taylor
Not taking anyone’s chart success away from them, but there really should be a pre-streaming and post-streaming differentiator when talking about charts. It’s kind of wild that with 50-75k ($.69-1.29 on iTunes) downloads you could chart a song in the Top 10 pretty easily, compared to 20yrs ago when it took physical copies of singles and mass radio play to chart a single highly. Artists have figured out how to manipulate the system, and those with very active stan communities (K pop is a big one here) benefit here. Same thing with Aldean and Richmond guy, right wing groups bought their spots on the chart with minimal effort.
I guess the only argument is that every artist is playing by the same rules. Billboard should probably lower the weight it gives to paid purchases, but it does signify a higher level of interest than a single stream.
Same rules for everyone but it’s just weird when an act like Drake will release a mid album and when all the songs chart, it’s used as a measurement against acts like The Beatles/Michael Jackson. It’s def not an apples to apples comparison using todays charts and measuring success against pre-streaming acts.
I was hoping a second Boston date would be added. By the time I got through the only tickets available were out of my range. Guess I’ll try my luck with the general on sale Friday.
I checked out the Spotify presale out of curiosity and it looks like prices went way up. I paid $140 per ticket yesterday and now seats in that section are going for $220. Not platinum.
