I'm looking at your list and realizing I dropped songs like "Miles" & "Aeroplane" which each had some of my favorite lyrics / lines on the whole album

I really like the guitar sound in “Aeroplane.” Feels almost like a nice little interlude to tee up the end of the album.

  5. Even if it does need editing (I do kind of agree it does in the back half), that isn’t my job and I won’t be doing it for them

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

How many fans are actually listening to his albums front to back every time? He’s found a formula and it works for him. Isn’t he in stadiums again for the next tour ?

Finishing up my first listen, there's some great stuff on this one, clearly gonna take more listens to dig further in

Self-titled feels the easiest for an in-one-sitting listen. American Heartbreak, I doubt I've listened to it front to back since the first time I listened to it.

  13. Dude’s voice is just a powerful force that for sure some of these acoustic ones are gonna bang harder because of it

excited to dive into those - really enjoyed my few listens of the “produced” one but like you’re alluding to here some acoustic ones are gonna be awesome

  14. Yeah honestly I think as a whole I just like the acoustic album more. And I really like the produced studio version. But he’s a strong songwriter and it comes out more in this version plus the homogenous flow of some of the songs feels like bothersome when you’re cutting like 30-90 seconds off each song

for sure, here’s mine. Thinking of doing a 10 track “bangers only” version.

  21. It’s better than the p4k write up but ultimately I don’t care about a review of a country record from people who don’t listen to country for publications that don’t cover country

The Pitchfork writeup is kinda baby's first review. Got nothing out of it that I couldn't get just listening to the record.

  23. maybe - their writing history shows a lot of folk/country reviews for Pitchfork so maybe it's just poorly written which happens a lot there!

Erlewine has a ton of knowledge about folk/country, and about most genres. It just feels like a classic "this had to be rushed because the writer only heard the album for the first time three days ago" review, which is increasingly how I feel about most reviews these days.
