Reminds me a little of what Conor Oberst does a lot with album openers...something non-musical that sort of slowly eases you in
He has like what nearly 100 songs in his discography I feel like and my favorite one has to be burn, burn, burn. what a song
i like zack but it's hard to view the consistent 15+ track albums during this bullshit streaming era as anything other than a business decision to game what spotify clearly prefers artists to do vs. an actual artistic decision. he isn't the only one, it's just a bummer
Maybe it's because I got into him with American Heartbreak and my way into that album was just putting it on shuffle and letting it play through different tracks at random, but long albums bother me way less with him than with a lot of artists. This thing seems positively brisk to me compared to the Beyonce and Taylor albums from this year, for instance.
Boys of Faith EP is still my favorite thing by him. Hope he keeps hanging loose enough to pop those out from time to time and branch out
I'm a sucker for songs like The Way Back. I can easily see it being a Brian Fallon solo or Gaslight song.
i know he’s posted WWPJ before so i’m sure he’s hip to them but a lot of these feel like they could be frightened rabbit songs
It's part of what I love about him. He's basically my youngest brother in terms of age so he's influenced by the music we all enjoyed.
Always knew his name but never checked out his music. Listened to this album a few times and really dig it. Looking forward to checking out his other music. Any recs on which album/EP to listen to next?
