“I lost my family to a bad disease I got a mean mean gene in my family tree That grows in grandfather and his daughters and me” I think about these lines a lot. And I really appreciate Zach Bryan’s carpe diem attitude when it comes to recording and getting his music out there.
I love his approach to getting music out. Record songs, finish album, drop it "any day now". No need for a bloated rollout with 15 special editions to milk every last dime out of fans.
I love his approach tbh even if the results can be up and down/repetitive sonically BUT I would love to see him just once try and take a swing on his, like, Born In The USA. He don't need my career advice but would just be cool to hear. Still feel like he has a generational, "they put this album cover on t-shirts" album in him.
yeah the freewheeling release schedule is awesome to see for such a new fresh artist and you gotta figure he’ll mature tons in the next 5-10 years. his stone cold classic is coming. let him cook. get in on the ground floor now because all roads point to something unreal down the line.
This one hit me. Had no context going in. Think a lot about how a lot of my time in the future will be spent going to funerals. Once you hit that age you love to talk about how pretty the sky looks. I live in the Pocono mountains so there are some days it looks damn good. Hoping this album is a lot of narrative songs like this one that focus on family/tradition/etc
The funeral line hit me like a ton of bricks because a guy my age who I play basketball with all the time died over the weekend and his calling hours were today. I had no clue what this song was about and didn’t listen to it for the first time until I was on my way there. Eerie.
Man this is already one of my favorite ZB songs. “If you could see em know, you’d be proud But you’d think they’s yuppies” Two little lines that say so much about leaving home and coming back.
This genre isn't generally my thing (though this new song is definitely intriguing), but I think the physical ticket/QR code live show download is one of the coolest things I've heard about an artist doing in a long while. I used to fantasize about my favorite bands having live bootleg followings like some of the big jam bands, especially in the pre-YouTube days.
Polish Village is 45 min away from me. And he’s playing Columbus on the 22 and 23 so passing Berea on the 24th is a real possibility. Do I dare?
