Got a solo drive to Vegas on Friday, looking forward spinning this loudly alongside Anxious and Darksoft!
The last one might be a better jumping on point, his voice is an acquired taste (and the last record is all about him losing his voice for months on end and potentially never being able to talk/sing again), but I think you'll like the vibes of this one better. Check out "Lucy Takes a Picture" and "Football"
This is great. I don’t know if it’s as immediate as the last one for me - mostly because the songs feel a little denser - but it’s pretty clear Trevor has hit his stride and is releasing his best work 12-14 years after his debut. The last track is really moving. It’s crazy how old home recordings can be so poignant even when it’s not your own childhood.
Very different vibes on the first two, which are more like psychedelic dream-pop, than these last three, which are more piano-driven singer-songwriter with some sampling and electronic/full-band stuff sprinkled in. I'm not the best authority on where to start but I would listen to the last album, Heaven is a Junkyard, for the slight Hovvdy vibes (more thematic and musical, definitely not vocally which is admittedly the biggest hurdle). Then this one, then the others for something different.
"Seersucker" is the one. "Gumshoe" and that back-to-back is such a crazy one-two punch, let alone bookended by "Football" and "Lucy."
Digging it. Didn’t get through the whole album but I really like some of the songs. Nothing reaches the heights of prize fighter, but this sounds like he had a big stack of music and they split it into two releases. Between the two albums I think there is one top tier album, but they’re both killer and I am so happy he is an active artist again.
