couldn’t pay me to watch his newest one might just be a director I enjoy one film by (they’re definitely out there)
Jason Takes Manhattan I get it, but I also love it as a natural (and more frightening) extension of Herschell Gordon Lewis's Two Thousand Maniacs then again, Beau is one of my favorite films at this point and I think you're crazy for not giving it a shot but if Ari Aster/nightmare horror-comedy isn't for you, it isn't for you
not a big horror guy and likely never will be but midsommar was a great movie. (un related so was get out but i havent seen nope yet). also extremely iffy on beau is afraid but i also love nathan lane and amy adams so maybe one day. coincidentally im watching only murders in the building rn which at least in season one featured them both
an Ari Aster film about a man with crippling anxiety certainly isn’t gonna do this man with crippling anxiety any favors. maybe one day tho
It's much funnier on second viewing, lol Honestly LOVE the ending, feel like it pulls it all together
Is there even a way to do a list like this? Since the ROUNDHAY GARDEN SCENE in 1888, there have been millions of films made, from the most expensive blockbusters to spur-of-the-moment experiments never seen by anyone but their creators. From the adoption of sound, the use of color, the normalization of frame rate, and the increasing use of digital technology, it is very hard to compare something like INTOLERANCE to KONG VS GODZILLA and have much to say about the value of the art form. What should be weighted more in a list like this? There is plenty of film that is foundationally important to the medium but difficult to sit through in the age of TikTok brain rot. Conversely, how old does a film have to be to deserve serious consideration for the greatest of all time? We all have seen someone make lists with movies that seem to only exist after the authors' fifth birthday. Does the exclusion of some classic make the list redundant, and does someone without a professional background in the craft even deserve a voice? It is all up for debate. However, it will be attempted regardless. These are 100-91. Truthfully, they could just as easily be switched with the last ten to fall off the list on any given day, which helps to illustrate how deeply moving these films really are. 100.
