God I always saw ads for CiCi’s growing up and was so jealous of anyone that had one near them. The closest one to my hometown was San Diego (5 hours away) There appear to be none in California now. Tragic
Yeah there was one across the street from my local mall like a few miles from me, it closed maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Very sad.
Also speaking of buffets my parents were big Shoney's fans. Whenever on a trip there was a Shoney's we had to stop and eat there. They also took me to Sweet Tomatoes a lot, but that one I never really liked besides their pizza bread. As a kid I thought a whole restaurant that just has soup and salad was dumb as hell.
I am looking up Shoney's and I am getting jealous we don't have them here anymore. Their whole gimmick now is every day of the week has a different themed buffet. Great idea. Monday BBQ Tuesdays Mexican Wednesdays Brinner Thursdays Italian Fridays Seafood Saturdays Surf N Turf Sundays Traditional Homestyle Dinner
You know, I'm not ashamed to admit it, I love Spam. I don't eat it a lot, but when I do it's great. My breakfast for a few days this week was rice, spam and fried eggs, and it was so good. Perfectly cooked fluffy white rice, some spam seared in the pan first, and then 2 over easy fried eggs on top. I added some chili crisp and a little of this garlic / ginger Japanese barbeque sauce I have, plus some green onions or chives, and it's a great breakfast. Spam is constantly disrespected and underrated.
Spam rocks. Spam musubis are excellent. Hawaiian plates with spam in them are great too. I think Hawaiian food is my favorite genre of food. I love treating myself to a big plate of Hawaiian curry chicken with all the fixings.
the opinion on spam is definitely turning, seeing it pop up in my instagram feed a lot lately. Think it's gona be the next "hip" food thing
I also have bought exclusively bologna instead of regular cold cut meat for sandwiches the past six months to save money. Bet bologna sales are up too.
