Pepper steak is great. If it's a lunch, I'll get roasted pork fried rice and an egg roll. Dinner, I've been into Mushu Beef lately. Chongqing Chicken if it's a legit place that's gona bring the spice.
if you like Kung Pao I also like chicken or cashew nuts, or I just see what their spicy chicken is because it varies from place to place and how spicy it actually is
Usually just Orange Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, and Chow Mein. We actually don't have great Chinese takeout near.
I will say the last 5 years I have much preferred Thai to Chinese. Thai places have more options and they give you more food for your money. My go to Thai order is either Spicy Eggplant with chicken or Drunken Noodles.
General Tsos was my go to for like 20 years, but I'm kind of sick of it. I'm kind of over the sweet/glazed stuff, but the hot orange chicken from Panda Express is kind of sick. Don't like the regular kind
Yeah Thai is excellent and I find myself getting that more often than Chinese. Pad See Ew with chicken is my fave.
I miss Chinese buffets, they don't really have them anymore post-covid. I used to get an entire dessert plate of just Chinese Donuts.
We don't go to my favorite buffet place because my over dramatic wife freaked out when she saw a cockroach on the floor. I told her its just part of the experience.
There are still a few near me but it’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to one. Definitely pre-covid
In my early 20's me and me friend's whole thing was getting baked and then hitting up a buffet. Either Chinese, Cici's Pizza, or Golden Corral.
One of my favorite Chinese buffets actually closed pre-covid because they got caught in a human trafficking sting. I guess most of their boh staff were unpaid slaves working off the debt of getting them smuggled into the US.
There’s a Mediterranean buffet that opened down the street from me last year that I was hyped about. My wife and I tried it back in March and it was incredibly mid. Biggest letdown
I recently found this kind of shitty hole in the wall Americanized Chinese place that absolutely rules. It's similar to Panda Express in that you get rice or noodles and then 1, 2 or 3 entrees. 3 is only $11 and they give you a shitload of everything. Easy 2-3 meals out of the 3 entree plate. If you're in/around Dallas, hit up China Bull Express.
I am thinking back on the Chinese spot my parents used to take me to as a kid. Large interior. Table seating. Dark lighting. Chinese statues and wood carvings everywhere. Like a Chinese restaurant you see in old movies. They don't make them like that anymore. Bring back restaurants with dark ambience.
I think they're still around, but there is less of them now. The mac & cheese pizza, the apple pie dessert pizza, the unlimited cinnamon rolls. Loved that place.
