As a bit I got this pre-made Salisbury steak from Sprouts for dinner and it's actually legit pretty good. I have never seen Salisbury steak in real life, except in the frozen dinner aisle. Did not even know it was hamburger and not an actual steak.
My parents used to get these all the time when I was growing up and now I’m getting ‘Nam flashbacks. I was neverrrr a fan haha
I'd imagine the frozen ones are terrible, it helped that this was real food. I just thought it was an insane thing to have freshly made in the year of our lord 2025.
Salisbury steak was a regular entree in my middle school cafeteria. I remember liking it, or least it was better than the rectangular pizza
Huh, this thread has made me realize, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a salisbury steak anywhere besides a TV dinner or premade meal… I’ve seen the Sprouts ones before, but like… do restaurants out there serve it? Could you get it at like a 50’s diner?
7 years ago I had to go to a shelter at a middle school for a couple days for Hurricane Irma. I had school lunch for the first time since I was like 13. Square pizza, tater tots, cardboard box milk, fruit cup, the whole deal. It was one of the most visceral experiences of nostalgia I had ever had. It was bad, but also so familiar it was comforting in a weird way. Made me think someone could make a killing with a food truck that sold school meals to nostalgic millennials.
I pray this hurricane season won't be as bad as the last few but I also know better than that. it'll be worse
Update: I got a different one today. It was some name-brand one I found at an Indian grocery store near me. It was better than the first one I tried made at an actual chocolate shop. It had more filling so it was much more creamier and flavorful. I get why these are viral. Will get again
I can get an authentic burrito 10x better than anything I have ever had at a chain from the mexican market across the street from my apartment for $12.
