My other controversial food take, though not as controversial as my soup take, is that I hate "traditional" American thanksgiving food.
My ancestors were murdered so we could have thanksgiving. So please eat your turkey and mashed taters out of respect.
Nooo not all of it. I like green bean casserole, mac 'n cheese, sweet potato casserole, stuffing is alright. I think I just don't like turkey, gravy, ham, mashed potatoes, or corn. You guys I think I might be a picky eater...
I can see that but I'll narrow it down to I don't really like sweet potatoes or yams which depending on the gathering, and what everyone makes, can means that's a big portion of it. Sweet potatoes casserole with the marshmallow especially is gross. But I can't hate on mashed potatoes, turkey, green bean casserole, gravy etc so there's always plenty to enjoy.
That's like... just one type of soup? Broccoli cheddar? chicken tortilla? Potatoes & leak? Pozole? Tomato? Lobster Bisque? Clam Chowder?
Once a year? Shit, I try to go out at least a baker's dozen times a year at my favorite hibachi place.
I save it for the time of year my offspring spends a couple weeks with his dad. Me and the group I grew up with like to get sloshed on sake bombs and be obnoxious with / become best friends with the chef. Makes for a special occasion to look forward to haha
Stuffing is meh, although I do like my mom's more than others. Mashed potatoes are good. Turkey is fine but the most boring meat there is, corn bread is good, corn is good, cranberry sauce is nasty...
