Jess stopped eating meat during the pregnancy, so we only shop at Walmart and Aldi and the only reasonably priced meat they have is chicken. I would fuck up some brisket so bad
One of the first times I had a LD, I brought it in the car and my wife (gf at the time) looked at me like I was crazy when I started drinking it. She was like “what are you doing?? You can’t have that in here!” But then I had to clarify it was water
For meat, I mainly make pork, chicken and turkey, and chicken has gotten so damn expensive in comparison to the others. Like $9.50 for a small 3 pack of chicken breasts at Walmart or Aldi
I kind of stopped buying chicken because I can’t cook it right. I hate really juicy chicken, but if I cook it it’s either super juicy, or gummy
I just wish Aldi sold thick cut, bone in pork chops instead of thin boneless. It's one of the few things I have to still go to Walmart for. That, and toiletries, cat food, and cat litter
that's the one I resorted to buying after they discontinued the original raspberry with wheat bread. I like it much better than the grape.
Just had a “Witches Brew” KitKat. I thought it was just a regular KitKat with green food coloring but it has marshmallow crème in it, it’s good
I’m still bummed they never brought back the cinnamon Kit-Kats. I usually don’t like chocolate and cinnamon together, but those were so damn good
my town just got its first Aldi so I stopped there over the weekend. Got alot of good stuff. Anyone have any recs on hidden gems or anything they really love that I should try?
I am getting into making Tuna and Chicken salad as a cheap easy dinner. Last night I experimented a bit and improv'd on a chicken salad with tomatoes, celery, onions, grated carrots, lemon zest/juice, a ton of paprika and cayenne. It tasted good but I put too much mayo in it and the consistency was off, a little too runny.
Love Aldi They always have some seasonal stuff so certain things you love may only be available a few months out of the year. I usually take this as a queue to stock up on certain things. Cannoli dip (seasonal fall item) is incredible, their imported cheeses rock and are always changing, generally find a lot of the frozen food section to be really good especially their bagged breaded chicken, decent frozen pizzas for the money. Also a lot of their basics like condiments are just dupes of existing brands. The Burmans Ketchup is basically just Heinz with a different label slapped on for example.
Egg wash them with Italian breadcrumbs and parm, then cook them on the skillet with olive oil and garlic. Those thin boneless ones are perfect for Italian style breaded pork chops (Pork Milanese)
I did notice alot of stuff like condiments and snacks looked like knockoffs but for way cheaper - Ill have to try them for sure. I did get the cannoli dip and its amazing...now that I know its seasonal Ill have to go pick up some more lol. Thanks for the tips!
